But they said this game is going to be "risky", right? Surely Pikachu talking isn't the only thing they're talking about since personally, I wouldn't consider that to be risky. It's just a spinoff game after all. But I suppose they wouldn't try and fit some adult themes into the game so the Pokemon franchise can continue being kid-friendly. We'll just have to wait and see what they do.
Depends on the rating I would say to what they can get away with.
Xenoblade X was rated T and they spouted damn and hell and shit every other chapter, plus there were sidequests revolving around manipulating/cultists, cold blooded murder and suicide and even a fucking alien landing from a tall building in front of you that looked like suicide at first but was actually murder.
As long as there's no blood, there's probably a very fuzzy limit of what sort of things they can do.
I'd actually love to see something like more adult themes in the game; if Pokemon existed in the world, wouldn't you use them to fuck up people if you could? It'd retroactively also legitimize all the villain teams from the games because for the most part they seemed like shitlords but when you think about it, a bunch of criminals wielding giant bat creatures and goop monsters is actually kind of terrifying.
