Let's talk about best Hoenn starter.
Not being contrarian for the sake of sake. It is the worst G3 starter.

Okay I need to elaborate, which I wasn't on purpose because this board does the same fucking song and dance for way too long but ok.
I feel no compelling reason to go play Emerald for the main story. The Frontier is good even if I only enjoy half of it, but the gym rematches, though the way they work is immersive, are underleveled for postgame standards a good chunk of the time and the maingame feels about the same

Save a couple, that's just some extra EXP yield from one-shotting with SE moves.

The only major difference to me are the twins, and Juan. Besides, ORAS actually kept Drake's Emerald Kingdra while replacing the Shelgon instead of one of the two Flygon.
Meanwhile in ORAS sure I have to deal with May being an annoying as fuck shitter for the first bunch of the game or so but I've got the updated mechanics, and most importantly DexNav. I loved using it to get egg moves and found it to be one of my favorite features ever put into Pokemon.
Exploring mirage islands and past areas for lategame team tweaks is fun for me as well, though I don't appreciate the idea of grinding something up to E4 levels.
Victory Road having National Dex trainers was also something I found to be really cool. I mean Delta Episode is crap, and seeing the Maison again is a blunder, but it still felt nice to me.

I'll just put it all as short as I can. If I didn't want to do any postgame, there is nothing that makes me want to replay any Hoenn game but ORAS. I said "quick" so as to not get the thread derailed, but at this point if it is, that's on me.I'm sorry about the tangent, but I consider Emerald in the mix all the time. you don't see a lot of large fast characters like that. i did see a pretty big conversion from his helm breaker thing, but he seems to be more spacing oriented than straight rushdown. actually all the projectile shit, the long range, the size, the slow air dash kind of remind me of Faust.
