There will probably neverb e any other canon way to get 3 types in the games id say. It screws everything up and leaves the pokemon with only 1 type still being the most OP.

Let's look at the effects this would have upon my favored type: Dragon.
Charizard and both of it's Mega Evolutions become Fire/Flying/Dragon, which helps them out against Ice (Double weakness reduced to a single) and those evil Fairy Types (since Fire resists Fairy). Altaria gets the same label I gave Ralts, Kirlia and Gardevoir, as well as Mawile: Traitor (since Altaria would be Dragon/Flying/Fairy). The Trapinch line gains the Bug Type, making Vibrava and Flygon Bug/Ground/Dragon, and as a result, I gain two new options: Yanma and Yanmega, both becoming Bug/Flying/Dragon (since Vibrava, Flygon, Yanma and Yanmega are all dragonflies).
Also, due to Trick-or-Treat and Forest's Curse adding the Ghost and Grass Types, respectively, we can already have QUADRUPLE TYPE POKEMON.
