It always feels weird seeing Purrloin stand just because its BW sprite had it sitting normally and I didn't watch the anime, so the first time I actually saw it on two feet was in XY after I had an imprint of it being quadrupedal for two years.

Most foxesib4 Vulpixare drawn without toes and go for the slender foot style. Especially one that is depicted as sly. Most Japanese artwork use it though, and sometimes with addition of paw stubs.

but they still have less detail. Look at a bunch gen 1 Pokemon sugis and you'll see that most of them will either have more realistic proportions, more detail put into their hair/feathers, or both.
