Not true, the general fanbase over time has just grown sick of people who only played pokemon when it was all the rage. It's the same thing within the fanbase. Normalfags on Facebook only care about gen 1 and not the years worth of content afterwardswhich is kind of ridiculous because I remember everyone who played Gen 1 also at least played and enjoyed Gen 2
So to show they're a dedicated fan who cares about the franchise as a whole they'll talk down gen 1 in order to put distance between themselves and those people.

But 6 or 7 I think when the games landed in the US and I remember that fucking hype like it was yesterday.
