Braixen has more of an energetic/sassy personality based on its depiction in the games as well, and it looks like they're playing off of that from the poses and screencaps on the reveal.

it also loses the whole matchstick wand thing where it lights it by pulling it from its tail. now it just lazily takes it from its side. a logical progression from braixen would be a staff/witch's broom with a flame instead of bristles. instead it "just gets taller" and an uglier outfit.

Not that guy but >>24998044 here, main issue is that it switches to all-fours for no obvious reason and betrays the theme Dewott builds up. You get Dewott looking like a neat samurai theme, but Samurott is just this big fat fuck with too many arbitrary angles tacked onto his design. The shell theme is there still but it's gotten out of hand and doesn't have a solid focus. Dewott looks like he's comfortable on land or in water, but Samurott looks like he'll flounder if you put him on land. The facial hair is cool but could have been executed better. He's just a disappointment.
One of the only bad parts of Gen5, my favorite generation.

Delphox is just a poor design, furry or not I don't find it very appealing.
I'm not a furry and I've never once wanted to have sex with Braixen or any other pokemon, but Braixen at least looks like a cute little witch. Delphox just looks ugly and lame. That being said I would really prefer Delphox in Pokken and I'm pissed that Braixen got in instead, I want to like Delphox, but I just can't. I wish Delphox could be retconned and redesigned, because I like Fennekin and Braixen and I feel like just a few minor tweaks could make Delphox great. As it stands it will probably remain one of the least popular starters ever, and that sucks because a Fire/Psychic fox mage could have been amazing.
And while I don't care about competitive pokemon, and I've never owned a Delphox and never will, I feel you on the gimmicky ability. That bothers me too. My best advice is to try to find a tricky, unique way to use Magician. I like to use Fake Out + Pickpocket + Fling with Shiftry personally.

It switches to all four so it can run faster and ram shit. When it needs to it can stand on its hind legs and fight with its swords. You know monkeys and bears also run on fours but function on two, right? Also it can use the swords freely underwater. It does everything Dewott did and more.
I don't know what you mean by arbitrary angles. It still has a samurai theme, but shogun were known to fight on horseback, hence it fights on four and two.
Nothing wrong with its design besides its waist being a little thin, but most mons have anatomy issues.

It's not that GF in particular hates it; It's that NEARLY EVERYONE ELSE does. Were you there in Oct 2 when it was leaked? Literally everyone became a Greninjafag, surprising because Fennekin was the clear favorite among everyone in terms of base stages. Frogadier bridged the gap, but Greninja completely destroyed that gap.
Up to this day, Braixen is still more popular than Delphox itself. It makes sense to give the majority what they want.

What's everyone's problem with Delphox? It's not my favorite starter, but only because I'm not a huge fan of anthro mons or fire types. Other than that I think it's an awesome concept and design.
