It was great when I first saw it but when you look back at it, it does look bad compared to Origins

Ditto or Porygon
Surprisingly, Ash vs. Team Rocket in the third episode of Indigo League is really, really well done. The animation of Pidgeotto manuevering through the air is slick, Team Rocket being an actual threat/breaking the Pokemon rules gives it added suspense, and the conclusion where Caterpie kicks ass is very satisfying.

I only watched the first few seasons.
I forget if the guy was Lance, or just some fag with a Dragonite, but I know Ash fought the "Orange league champion" which was 6v6.
That guy had Dragonite, Gengar, Ditto, and i dont fucking remember what else. Ashe had Snorlax, Lapras, Tauros, Charizard, Pikachu, and Bulbasaur if I remember right.
Charizard vs. Magmar is my personal favorite.

Charizard vs clone charizard from the first movie was really well done. Top notch animation
Ash's Muk vs Bellsprout in Indigo Plateau where the dumbass Bellsprout tries to kick based Muk and gets eaten.

6v6 battles are called Full Battles in the anime and only happen during the League, rival battles, and special tournaments.
Ones that come to mind off the dome are Ash VS Paul Pre-League, Ash VS Trip, Ash VS Drake, Ash VS Morrison, Ash VS Tyson, and Ash VS Tobias

Gotta go against the grain here and say the Anime did it better. Granted, Origins has animation that is leagues better, but it just amounts to "they hit each-other real hard."
Ash vs Gary had strategy (albeit an unorthodox one) and a killer score. Johto Victory theme GOAT. Plus it had, like, five years of build-up behind it.

That was Drake (not the Hoenn E4, obviously). He also had Electabuzz, Venusaur, and an Onix. Ash didn't have Snorlax, as it was hibernating or some shit. He instead had Squirtle.

Ash v Tobias (this was the fuck who only used a Darkrai and a Latios though)

That's all that comes to mind. I haven't kept up with XY a whole lot, but I don't believe they've had a 6v6 battle yet.

Eh fair enough. I could argue that even though Gary wasn't a regular by any stretch, he'd still been there from the beginning and while generation of kids knew him as Ash's rival, but you've got a point. As a whole, Johto sucked pretty hard.
Every Kanto battle is a nostalgia trip which isn't actually very good... but that's ok.
Kalos battles have been fucking awesome, specially the bravest bird.

The Darkrai movie had excellent battles, and I'm inordinately fond of Ash/Sceptile vs. May/Blaziken. That was a really good match.
I really want to see Ash's Sceptile vs. his Charizard, though. Those two seem like they'd interact in an interesting way.
