Because of Aku's typing and ability.
Fairy would also give him an edge over dark type.
His sword is steel but it's special because it's a ~MAGIC SWORD~ and the power of righteousness and love seems more like a Fairy thing to me.
Aku's minions are Steel/Bug or Steel/Dark so Jack makes pretty quick work of them with Sacred Sword.
