Not a port, just an emulation of the original ROM. The only extra difference in comparison to other VC releases is they coded the emulator to allow local multiplayer unlike other GB/GBC games.

I'll use at least Porygon, since it's my favorite. Which pretty much locks in my version choice as Blue since I don't want to spend my entire life in the Game Corner. (Porygon costs 9999 coins in Red/Yellow but only 6500 in Blue.)
And I'll probably either make the rest of my team artificial/industrial-themed or all-bug. I tend toward the former so Porygon fits in more. This means Pokemon like Muk, Weezing, Electrode, Magneton, etc. Not gonna give a fuck about having a strategic or diverse team since there's no Stadium and I'll probably never end up battling any real people.
Game Corner makes me wonder if they'll allow savestates for these like the other VC games. You could states to dupe Pokemon VERY easily. It would totally break the Mew event if they decide to do it in the west too. Want the event Mew? Sure, trade me anything you don't want and I'll just reload the savestate.

JP Blue has some really interesting Pokemon availability. Jynx can be caught in the wild, you can get Gengar and Golem without trading, and the Game Corner has some weird stuff like the ability to buy Pikachu for cheap. You can also get both Scyther and Pinsir in Safari Zone (like in Yellow), but you can't get either Electabuzz or Magmar.
