Psychic because they always were cool powerful special attacker and they can learn coverage moves like Shadow Ball and Thunderbolt.
Water because it's an overall good, balanced type and Surf, and I really liked my Starmie in Emerald when playing Battle Frontier.
Fairy because fairy
Electric, Water, Fighting, Normal, and Ground. In that order.

My favorite pokemon is Glaceon and I really like others ice type pokemon so I guess that's the one.

They have great designs. My top 3 fave mons arent even ghost and ghost isnt my fave but if you look at the designs in general, ghosts tend to have a better ratio of good to bad designs. They are also a good combination of cute and fearsome designs without bordering on the edge save for a select few
Gengar and Aegis being really powerful helps too
