I feel like Competitive would really suit it, actually. And it would contrast well with Manectric.
More because solar power is a grossly mishandled ability in general. There's no justifiable reason it cuts hp at all, it shouldn't have a downside, because sun is already a downside due to its temporary nature.
Also, a totally mishandled stat boost on the mega's part. Why did you dump 40 whole points into defence to bring it up to an only average level, especially when physical attacks will OHKO houndoom regardless. It's just wasteful.
If there were viable non-mega sun setters you'd see it used a lot more. A LOT more. Like, imagine Charizard Y's heat wave/flamethrower but boosted by a calm mind.

And yet it stops volt switch faggots right in their tracks, kills thundurus, rotom, manectric, zapdos, hell, any electric type due to how powerful a +1 leaf storm, up ice, or energy ball is coming off 145 or whatever sp atk, plus it gives it an easy opportunity to set up.
