Of all the Johto Pokemon, Ampharos is the one I'm most certain was a holdover from gen 1 (inb4 some idiot assumes that the removed gen 1 Pokemon kept the same placeholder values in gen 2). It gives off the "what the hell is that even supposed to be?" vibe that a lot of gen 1 Pokemon did.

5 minutes in paint.net showed me what flaaffy/ampharos would look like if they kept mareep's color scheme (blue skin, orange crystals, yellow ears/tail, yellow wool). those blues are really overbearing when not a detail color

Personally I think Emboar is fine, a bulky power fighter with self cooking properties. Pignite looks goofy as fuck though and initially soured the line for me when I didn't know what Emboar looked like.
