Hey /VP/, I've been wanting to make a Mantis grass starter, but don't have any ideas for its entire line. Any ideas
Does it have to be Grass/Fighting?
Grass/Psychic or Bug/Psychic seems more logical for a Mantis

Grass/Bug isn't the very best typing due to its many weaknesses, and it'll make it into a not so good starter as a result.

I'd consider dropping the grass type, as much as I'd like it to be there (no really, I do like the idea of grass/bug even if fire rapes it) but it might be too similar to leavanny

A Mantis can be very good offensively, some fighting types are fragile and make up for it with their high attacking power, so there isn't really a problem there.

They could work as Pokémon, but not as starters, its pretty obvious why with it not having legs in its unevolved stage, so it'll look kinda awkward when paired up with other starters.

Grass/Bug isn't bad STAB. If it learns Ground and Rock type moves, it'd have perfect neutral coverage.

Sure, but it won't have much going for it offensively and defensively, not to mention a grass starter is hard to pull of right. Bug isn't the best type for offense and defense, and even with that coverage it'll get shat on by every single attack since it being not very defensive.

The problem here also is this things design, people would say it looks like leavanny or something if we gave it leaf hands, there are flower Mantis and stick bugs and such, so maybe we can use that.
