Why is Serperior so much better than the other gen 5 starters?
>>24892045
Contrary
An actual good design.
>>24892045
Because the other starters from Gen 5 are complete garbage. It's not difficult to be better than them.
>>24892049
No it's true
>>24892045
legal Contrary + decent speed. That's it.
>>24892045
Good design and nice Hidden Ability.
>>24892045
Because SNEK
Sleek design and Contrary. Sure, it's a one trick pony, but that's better than what the other 2 have.
>>24892045
When a starter is absurdly better than the other two its usually because of an ability.
See Feraligatr, Blaziken, Greninja
>>24892045
It's the best competitively because of Contrary. The other two have better designs though, even with Samurott's weird leg thing going on. Serperior's design is just trash.
>>24892045
>Better design than the other two (Emboar's design may be better than Samurott's, but it's still not as good as Serperior's)
>Contrary
>Decent speed
>Snek
>>24892442
>The other two have better designs
this is b8
>>24892045
Serperior was good prior to Contrary.
My gen 5 NU team used a defensive build
Leech Seed
Sub
Twave
Dragon Tail
>>24892504
>NU team
>good
>>24892440
Infernape was absurdly better than Torterra and Empoleon with Blaze.
>>24892056
English doesn't work like that.
>>24892045
>>24892721
>Absurdly
Fuck off right here. Empoleon never trailed much behind and still doesn't.
>>24892750
Fixed for Durants?
>>24892476
It's true though. The Gen V starters all have pretty mediocre designs, but Serperior's is the worst.
>>24892862
>fire pig eyesore with the overdone fire fighting type.
>chunky quadruped sealion with swords forced onto it.
>better designs.
You're not even trying.
>>24892981
Neither are as bad as the peeled banana snake with ears, covered in yellow stickers.
>>24892996
>>24892045
Because it's the only one that gave people exactly what they expected
>Tepig: Becomes the third Fire/Fighting type in a row
>Oshawott: Becomes quadrupedal as Samurott
>Snivy: Starts as a smug grass snake and ends as a smug grass snake
>>24892045
Because it's the best snek.
>>24892721
Never absurdly, just slightly better.
Like howdelphoxis slightly better without HA's
Snakes are hot
>>24892996
Being a snake automatically makes a pokemon better than anything else no matter what.
>>24893971
>he will never wrap you up and use you as a hole for hours
>>24892476
>perfectly reasonable opinions are now bait
>>24894016
>she will never wrap you up and use you until she's bored
>>24894107
>they will never take turns using you as a toy
>>24894141
i don't even think im bi and that sounds kinda hot
>>24892504
>Twave
Anon, you mean glare, u know the not Leaf Storm spam move.
>>24892045
You spelled Samurott incorrectly
>>24894211
>i don't even think im bi
>And yet, I want to be constricted by a snek couple and fucked violently by them all day
>>24894325
I was mildly drunk.
But yeah still hot.
>>24896497
You don't have to make excuses for having good taste, anon.
>>24892045
Because it has an ability which makes one move useful.
>>24896596
No excuses here, just facts.
>>24892996
It's true. It doesn't even have actual vines on, just a green pattern and a couple of leaves. It looks like it gave up half way through molting, and painted its skin with a grass pattern.
Also its huge anime eyes are ugly as fuck.
>>24892045
It isn't.
Just competitively.
Is Serperior really that bad in game?
I have a habit of playing canon starters, and since Bianca's is Emboar, Hilbert's would be Samurott. I just finished BW with it and it was a fine starter. Pulled its weight through the whole game, and OHKOd Alder's Volcarona.
Nate's canon starter is Emboar, which is a fucking abomination, so that only leaves Rosa with Serperior. Can it hold its own or am I better off just boxing it?
>>24899188
It isn't bad for a starter stat-wise. The real issue is that, like most Grass types in general, it has a shallow movepool and an awful defensive type while having defense oriented stats.
Of course none of this remotely matters if you mean you only care about the overworld AI because everything's viable.
>>24894317
Competitively, no. Design? It blows the other twoout of the water. This official image is enough to highlight that a samurai-styled sea lion is aesthetically better than a peeled banana snake and a giant piece of ham cooking itself.
