> Within the reveal of the Pokémon Virtual Console 20th Anniversary Releases yesterday, another small bit of information slipped by. This information is the file size of each of the games on the Nintendo 3DS. Previously on the released images of the download cards, the file size was marked out, but now it has finally been revealed. Each game requires 11MB of space on your SD card in order for you to download upon their release on February 27th 2016 globally.
> Serebii confirmed

The actual rom size for each game is around 1MB, so 11MB is a pretty significant increase. Assuming its not entirely down to the trading ability improvements, what else do you think they've added in? All 721 pokemon in 8 bit format?
>>
The most likely explanation is that the extra file size is the emulator the game runs on.
>>
I wonder if they've decided to fix Missingno.
>>
New superboss? God Oak?

I hope Sugimori redraw (not redesign) the artworks of all non-Pokemon characters for Gen I re-release like on this pic.

Blue/Green finally playable?

You're a fucking chump for even thinking this is a possibility.

I love seeing Red drawn in the modern art style like that, really hope we get more.
>>
>>24890693
>not knowing that the emulator is apart of the file sizes
The new trading mechanic is probably barely 1MB. Most of that space is the emulator.

This is like pulling up Super Mario Land and seeing it's 10MB and think they added shit to it because the ROM is only 512kb or some shit.

I don't think they'd be bothering with such a high-end Mew promotion unless the Mew glitches were scrubbed out. One of them was tied to Missingno, so expect it to be gone.
>>
>>24891231
But the main market, kids wanting to play the originals just like their big brother, and the adults who only care about Pokemon because it was popular once, wont even know the mew glitches exist except le epic missingno meme but I cant see them removing that for a number of reasons.

The Mew glitch isn't exactly obscure anymore. Googling "how to get Mew" brings up pages upon pages explaining how to do it. Right now Gamefreak is using Mew as an incentive to sell more consoles, so I don't think they'd leave it in.
>>
I'd really love to see Missingno. being an actual part of the game. That'll never happen though.

I don't think they'll fix it, but didn't similar memory glitches on other VC titles not work and just cause the games to crash out?
>>

what is this :O
>>
>>24890693
There's also DRM, and also for some reason the file sizes quoted on the eStore tend to be overestimates.

This really isn't a sign of anything.

Still seems to be more than what the entire Super Mario Bros game supposedly was, even if not by that much.
>>
>>24891663
The game practically runs on tables, so they'd have to actually do work which I do not see happening.

You know how the link cable is emulated through local wireless? I'd like to see what happens when another link cable enabled game like say Pokemon Crystal is injected into that particular VC "package."

It's gamefreak we're talking about here. There's no way they would do that for free, if it were to happen tha games would be charged full price.

Lmao good luck with that dream kiddo. Also we're talkin about 10$ here

Wait, the GOLD TEETH were in the grass? I was playing blue the last week and I'm 100% sure they were found OUT of the grass, near the cabin where they give you HM03.
>>
>>24892414
Might be different for Red or Yellow.
>>
Guys, what if all the games are re-released on VC? What if you can get gold/silver/crystal? What if you can get Ruby and Sapphire, with backwards compatibility with G/S/C?

I want to be excited about this, but

Still wouldn't matter if they can't be traded to later games, I wan't my Gen 1's on my Gen 6 and 7's, it'd ridiculous that they didn't add this feature.

I want original GSC the most. RIP the battery on my original carts

You can open up the cartridge and replace it pretty easily, but your prescious save will be killed.
>>
>>24894685
The saves were dead the second the geniuses at Nintendo thought attaching a clock to a save battery was a good idea. If the battery were a separate one like with Pokemon Pinball's rumble motor they would still work.
