I didn't like it much when it was first revealed because of how all the furries got attached to it. But I grew to like it more with time, now I think I like the Fennekin line the most of the Kalos starters.
That happens a lot with the starters. My first choice usually isn't the one I like the most in the end.

It should be theoretically possible to rip the models and make those polygons invisible. Then you would see Delphox's legs from the most official source there is.

In art the most detrimental thing you can do is stick to your comfort zone, there is definitely thousands of porn artists who do nothing but draw their fetish and their work gradually declines because of it but that has nothing to do with the subject matter itself.
Let's take your average furry artist as an example, they usually start off studying a lot of figure drawing and human anatomy. But as soon as they are capable of drawing furries as well as they want? They stop studying. They start just drawing those furries over and over without ever going back to revisit the figure drawing and anatomy study that brought them to that point, so over time they start forgetting things and their figures start getting worse even though they're drawing every day.
So what's important is that you keep pushing your skills, you keep pushing outside your comfort zone and keep studying. Because when you stick to a single subject for too long, you usually start forgetting all the lessons that got you there.
