Gen 5 dragon dominance was a combination of the sheer stat advantage the various dragons had over the opposition (the dragon-types in OU were usually BST 600 and in one case BST 700), the ubiquity of the good dragon type moves (Draco Meteor could be taught to literally any dragon type and Outrage was a move tutor), dragons only having a single weakness (i.e. Ice, and Ice is such a godawful typing to actually have that the aforementioned BST 700 was in OU rather than Ubers), and the fact that only one type resisted it (i.e. Steel, and almost every single dragon got access to Fire Blast and/or Earthquake to handle those).
Nether types do not have that stat advantage over other puppets (the highest BST of any nether puppet is EikiD at 550, who is defensively oriented anyways; the very good MimaP and YuyukoP sit at 540 but have poor speed), their good moves do not have widespread availability at all (Midnight Apparition is available on only 5 puppets and Starving Spirit is available on only 3, with the next best option being BP 80 in the latter case and the next-best being BP 75), and the fact that Nether has more weaknesses than Gen 5 dragon did (it's weak to itself, Light, and Dark; note the one type that resists it is also SE against it).
There are other reasons (such as how Dragons were fast, bulky, AND hard-hitting whereas nether-types are 2/3 of those at best, a side effect of not having BST 600s everywhere with the typing because hemo apparently knows how to balance better than GF), but regardless, there won't be a Gen 5 Dragon situation.
Because in the expansion, Sound now resists Nether in addition to Light. It won't hit for SE back, but Nether now is resisted by 2 types rather than just one.

YoshikaP @ (ultimately, if I decide to use her in netplay) Wraith Form w/ Power Spot/Poison Trap/Furious Recitation/Venom Nova seems like she could be a versatile lead and focus tank, and Nether/Poison has good coverage.

It's still an effective 422 power attack with wraith form and held item coming from 100 base attack, there's really nothing that survives that in this without light type + field protect + a good chunk of bulk, which only TenshiD does.

Well, it is essentially Explosion, but Yoshika has Netherate and decent attack, so it seems like it'd be enough of a good last-resort wallbreaker to justify as part of her kit.
Mostly, I'm theorycrafting around my current team; just entered the SDM with YoshikaP, FutoS, WriggleP, KotohimeD, AliceP, and NazrinS.

Hemo / whoever else is working on the game has so far had a very good head on their shoulders about the balance and takes almost everything into consideration for most of what they do.
I wouldn't be surprised if their logic behind current nether was that it gets minimal resists on offense but at the cost of really mediocre skill selection on most nether puppets. It seems like they weren't happy with how it worked out though so they could very well be giving the good nether skills to more puppets but giving out another resistance to it to keep it in check.
We'll find out soon enough when the expansion hits.

Nah, Remi's levels are just ridiculous.. They take a sharp spike downwards afterwards, with the exception of Reimu Oak. From what I've seen grinding is entirely optional, granted I've yet to reach the E3

As long as you stick with a static team for most of the game then you pretty much just naturally end up overleveled unless everyone's 100+ cost.
You almost have to go out of your way to avoid XP intake to stay on par with big-name fights.

Really should be a sound type to deal with Reimu, but I'm not really invested in any of the sound types I have at the moment.

It's worth noting that Sound is now weak to Electric in the expansion (because the main weakness it has, Wind, is going to be pushed away by Chaos).
Hemo probably realized how close Nether was offensively to Dragon and didn't want to take the risk of having something like that dominating the metagame unintentionally. Dragon types not only centralized the game around themselves, they centralized the game around the type that could resist their onslaughts (i.e. steel).
Alternatively, Hemo really likes Sound.
Alright, managed to get a complete hold on most of the inventory addresses down, since FL turned out to be quite organized with their programming.

It's much faster to just grind Makai's goon squad than to use Prismatic Candy.

RinP is offensively pretty close to Salamence (120ATK and 100 SpATK v 130 ATK and 110 SpATK) and is faster (110 speed with access to Speed Boost), but her defenses suck (base 50 DEF and SpDef), she doesn't get a very strong STAB physical Fire move (best is BP90 and 90% accuracy), and while she does get the only physical Nether move worth using in the entire game that doesn't have priority (Midnight Apparition), it's a Double-Edge variant rather than an Outrage variant so she'll kill herself almost as quickly as she kills enemies.
There are a few others like YoumuS, TojikoD, or SeigaP that can qualify, but all of them have some flaw that keeps them from really being completely insane. (YoumuS doesn't get Midnight Apparition and Starving Spirit isn't significantly powerful off of only base 100 SpATK, SeigaP doesn't get Starving Spirit and is stuck with the BP 80 Ghost Wave, TokijoD has base 30 defense and will die to priority with incredible ease)
Also, in contrast to how basically every Dragon ever got access to Earthquake, very few Nether types get access to Shooting Press.

Nevermind; seems like sorting the items will refresh the inventory and "introduce" the edited items in.
However, I'm certain that the only way for a puppet in the demo to be higher than level 20 is to manually change the level value itself or the amount of exp a puppet currently has; the problem with that is the game seems to be constantly checking whether or not a puppet has a certain amount of exp.

Oh, and the next strongest Nether special attack after Starving Spirit, Poltergeist, is just as hilariously limited in who gets it: Only 3 puppets learn it just like Starving Spirit. Even Midnight Apparition is only learned by 5 puppets, although most of those tend to be high quality (MimaP, RinP, and MikoS are all stellar, although why you would use it on MikoS when she's not Nether type is beyond me)
For a good contrast, the top-end special Sound type move, Danmaku Orchestra, is learned by EIGHT puppets (KyoukoA, KyoukoP, LunasaD, LyricaP, MerlinA, MystiaP, YatsuhashiD, and YatsuhashiP), and the strongest non-drawback physical Sound type move, High Tone Crush, is learned by seven (BenbenD, BenbenP, KanaP, LunasaA, LunasaD, LyricaS, and MikoS).
For further contrast, the game's equivalent to Spore, Drunken Banquet, is learned by 3 puppets.
Even combining the totals for who gets Starving Spirit and who gets Poltergeist, fewer puppets get either one of those than Danmaku Orchestra, just like how fewer things get Midnight Apparition than Ultra High Crush.
I'm not even going to count Ultra High Tone for this because it's available via skill card, that's basically just cheating.
Also while looking this up I learned there's a Sound-type counterpart to Superpower, Full Burst Detonate (BP120 physical 100% accuracy, reduce ATK and DEF after use).
It's learned by 4 puppets (BenbenP, KanaA, MerlinP, and OrangeP), so at least there Nether wins out.
Contrast all of that to how literally every Dragon gets Draco Meteor and how most of them get Outrage and you'll quickly see why Nether is never going to be anywhere near as good as Dragon.also the expansion resistance change but I mentioned that earlier this thread

Eh, only really screws over a few puppets that are ridiculously reliant on their ability (SukunaD and AyaP, maybe EllyP to some extent), and it only works on switching in; if SukunaD switches into RenkoE, she'll still have Miracle Mallet.
Assuming Hemo doesn't boost it, she'll have a BST of 350 in her Extra stance like in her regular two stances. For comparison, that's tied with a few NORMAL puppets (i.e. unevolved).
For someone with stats that low to be remotely viable, you need something absolutely goddamn insane to back you up; Smeargle did it in regular Pokemon by being able to learn literally every move and it has a BST of 245. SukunaD does it thanks to Miracle Mallet compensating for her poor base stats. Renko in theory was supposed to do it with RenkoS being able to put up permaweather and RenkoA being able to put down longer duration terrain moves, but that doesn't really hold up well in execution (even if in the latter case 70/65/75 isn't horrible defensively if invested in).
Basically Hemo feels bad that Renko wasn't very good the first time around and wants to fix it.

The from there go west until you find a village with cats, explore it and find Chen, which will give you a map, that also functions as Fly.

Stuff like the Seiryuu terrain condition, the Weakness status effect, the existence and ridiculous availability of Smash Spin, the fact that the game's equivalent to Taunt can be learned by everything ever, the general lack of legit walls capable of taking massive amounts of damage but being unable to do much back (save for the game's Chansey equivalent), the fact that there isn't a single ungodly good defensive typing like Steel in regular Pokemon, and the existence of incredibly powerful threats that cannot be dealt with via a passive playstyle (Sukuna keeps getting cute pictures posted for a reason) all serve as proof that Hemo wants stall to not exist.
And he's completely right. Stall is dumb and boring and makes matches drag on way too long; the fact that Smogon is obsessed with making Stall work at all times is one of the major reasons I lost interest in competitive Pokemon (alongside the fact that Pokemon is not very balanced).

Is there an up to date location list? The two I used either is missing puppets and/or use different names which to a non-Touhou fan is confusing as fuck.
To give an example: on one list for the bamboo area it say you can get Reisen. Ok, google search tell me on this game the character is being called Udonge as it seem to be the same bunny girl with purple hair and even though that name wasn't on the list I was able to fight her in that area. Yet on the very same list on a slightly different area (Eientei) they use the correct name.
I just feel like I can't trust this information anymore if the guy is using multiple names left and right like that.

It had Reisen, Reisen II and Udonge as names. He was using two different names for the same character on a location list. You gotta admit that is kinda stupid for what it was for.

Poison doesn't work on poison types, burn doesn't work on fire types.
That's it. Burn does NOT have the attack cut part it has in regular Pokemon; that's it's own status effect in this game (Darkness). Will'o'Wisp still inflicts both at the same time so it mechanically works the same way.
Paralysis, unlike how in regular Pokemon it quarters speed and has a 25% chance to prevent any action, here only halves speed and nothing else.

The differences between EllyP (#1 in the usage charts) and WriggleP (not even on the usage charts) in regards to Mad Rush Stance users are noticable, but not game-ruining.
Smogon requires there to be stall, to the point where bans will literally revolve around "will this kill stall". Also it would require there to be bans to begin with.

Finding specific puppets is pretty easy, head over to your puppet of choice's page on the wiki and their moonrunes name will be over in the top right.
Copy it, head over to the charts, ctrl+F, ctrl+V and bam 2hu found.
