ITT: Real world animals that would make for cool pokemon
Pic related: The Mountain Stone Weta is an insect that allows its body to freeze solid over the winter, then thaw in spring and carry on being a cool bug. Would be a great basis for an Ice/Bug type.

I know Lanturn exists, but a Water/Dark type pokemon based on Deep Sea Anglerfish would be really cool. Especially if the male couldn't evolve at all, and the female could only evolve by leveling up while you have a male in your party.
>>24853825
Don't all insects do that? I always assumed they all sorta hibernated or something.
I don't think that entire populations just die out each winter.
>>24853825
What an awful typing that'd make, but it's cool, regardless
Muskox. Maybe Ice/Normal or Ice/Fighting.
dolphin
wolfcassowary
THIS ONE'S ALREADY A POKÉMON.
Honey, where's my stegosaurus?
>>24853825
>Ice/Bug
Dolphin, definitely. Tardigrade (Water Bug) as well.
What about a griffin/griffon/gryphon (all three spellings are correct)?
FUCK YEAH WETAS
>>24853825
When I find out Bergmite wasn't Bug/Ice during the leaks, my heart sank.
Still, the typing would be tremendously shit.
>>24855547
owchies.
>>24853825
>>24854633
the main form is ground/bug and the hibernation is ice bug
>>24855547
That looks really painful.
But at the same time not scary at all.At least on gif. I would shit my pants if I found that shit on my house.
Hoatzin's are neat. The chicks have claws on their wings, so the first stage could have higher attack then the evolution as a gimmick.
Coelacanth's evolution (don't give it Mega evolution yet)

That's not blood.
It's vomit.

Placoderms are actually more primitive than Lobe-finned fish and evidence lately leads to a Placoderm ancestor to all jawed fish.
If anything, what you want is a primal reversion OR an evolution like Piloswine -> Mamoswine while it knows a certain move (maybe Crunch?)
Lyre Bird. Male has larger tail feathers than female. Pokemon mimics the cry of all other pokemon. When encountered, will have a random cry of another pokemon. Use Pokedex entry to hear real cry.
Rock/Electric Brontothere Fossil Pokemon
Abilities: Lightningrod/Sheer Force HA: Teravolt
Gem-covered (Learns Power Gem) rhino-like animal that generates Electricity that it can direct using its tuning fork-like horn.
Slow Special Attacker with nice HP and good defenses (especially regular Def).
>>24856334
>Teravolt
stopped reading right there
>>24856337
It's fucking mold breaker with a different name because of flavour.
And it's not the first time a regular pokemon got the abilities/moves of a box legendary.
Are you autistic?
Fighting/??? (maybe rock?)
No Guard/Scrappy/Guts
Muscular Chalicotherium that punches good. High Attack, Good speed, ok def and HP, low sp. stats.
Southern Lapwing is a prime candidate for regional bird.
Yes those things are spurs on its wings. Get close to its nest and it will shank you.
Flying/Fighting final evo is alright too.
>>24856415
And the Red Ovenbird could be a decent single-evo dex filler.
Flying/Ground with high defenses and Stockpile.
If you really want to use his gimmick for an area you can have a forest or small village full of the nests since they'll only use the nests once and never use another bird's.
>>24855607
I know. It's kinda obvious. I was talking about the grip on the finger.
>>24856510
Well, shit. Meant to reply to >>24856290

they mostly do, the eggs survive and hatch in the spring.

Why would bug be a secondary type?
Is this a bug that freezes itself or ice that bugs itself?
