Who else thinks rock types need a recover equivalent?
It's supposed to be a tank type but it's more of a hindrance than an advantage to have one in your team due to how little they last in battle.
Pic related would do a ton more with such a move.

if there's a pokemon with low HP and good defenses it should have a high HP stat
if there's a pokemon with high HP and low defenses it should have higher defenses

Rock types are pretty ass. Can't be good offensively due to stone miss. Can't be good defensively due to no recovery and weaknesses to common physical AND special attacking moves. Weak to EQ, weak to CC, weak to Scald. Not immune to any type or any status. They are pretty much only useful to stop certain birds and TTar is the only Rock type you ever need.

All of them have either Recover, Slack Off, Roost, Synthesis, or Morning Sun. All can and should be played like tanks. Are you saying roost is a mistake? Are you saying Porygon 2 having tanky stats and Recover is a mistake?
If you seriously think this, you are a moron, and you have no fucking idea how this game works. If a tank can't recover, it's going to need some other shit to compensate (Tyranitar and its weather setting, for example), otherwise you're stuck with a pokemon like Nidoqueen, one that's too slow to sweep, and even though it's bulky, lacks the longevity to properly work as a tank or a wall. You take a lot of damage on switch-ins and hazards. It adds up. There's a reason why Nidoqueen is forever UU.
