Pull the strings, and let the puppets dance across the battlefield. It's a serene performance.
>What is PDP?
A Pokémon/Touhou fangame, the style can looks like the old touhoumon hacks, but this one is quite different, it has many new features (animated battle sprites, customization of puppets, easy system to distribute EVs and relearn skills anytime, Reincarnation, unique map, HMs are key items, etc...). You can also make online matches.

While we are at it, since Pokemon are animals, we too have to remove that from here since it is litterally animals.
This is how stupid this argument is going to be in a second. I am gonna make you safe from the embarrassment you are going to do.
While we are at it, do you like playing games, Gg is the place for you. So why is Pokemon a board? Ohh right, it was made because we needed a containment board. Until the day /th/ appears this is gonna stay here.

I thought /jp/ was /th/.
>Nitori S has blah defenses, 3 weaknesses, base 100 speed, and only base 105 special attack
How the fuck is she so high in the usage charts? Water Cannon can't be it; Water Spout generally only sees use on Kyogre in Pokemon, and that's because Kyogre is broken as fuck.
What does she have going for her? Is it just being cute?
Is there a way to play this in full screen? Manual says that f11 does it but it doesn't seem to be working. Also, any way to rebind keyboard keys instead of just controller buttons?

Yeah, the Touhou Puppet Play forums are where we're stationed. There's an entire subforum within the main forums dedicated to the game.
>>24831152
Some of it we can, but considering the story has been massively overhauled, all of that will need to be done from scratch. Very few things can actually be "copy/pasted" over. We can use the old translation as reference, but we can't just copy the files themselves, or in some cases the translation, without caution.

It's definitely designed with swapping your team to higher cost puppets throughout the game and is really easy to end up overleveled if you don't.
It was mildly disappointing being overleveled for some key fights on my first playthrough but I still like the mechanic in general, hopefully it gets polished a bit better in the expansion.
Although it does also sound kind of fun to try and actively go out of my way to minimize XP gain without straight up skipping fights.

Her stat spread is a bit too middling as well.

I can finally net battle now but I want to ask; if I enter a battle with normal rules, will dolls under level 50 be brought up to Level 50? I need to know whether or not I can reincarnate without missing out on the fun due to an underleveled team.
>>24833889
I don't believe they are.
But since you do need to earn PP in order to ramp your stats and learn moves, chances are you're not going to be lower than 50 anyway. More so since the majority of puppets absolutely need their level 70 move.

i don't think calling it "pokemon hack" is longer correct because it was built from scratch, is now a game on its own, a touhou fangame with gameplay inspired by pokemon.

Wiki is down, don't expect it to be back up for a good long while. In a nutshell, the wiki was still getting hammered with activity to the point where the actual webhost was like "You've used 300 gigs of bandwith in one week, shit's about to explode". We tried to fix it last night but in between the fixes and now we got another 750000 hits to the wiki which completely killed it. We are looking into alternatives to hosting, but if we can't find any, expect the wiki to go on a wikia.

The statistics we were given show that, on average, the wiki was procesing more connections from similar IPs than unique IPs. The wiki got about 300k visitors a day, but only 5k were unique. This would mean that each user is looking at aproximately 30~60 pages per visit.
We also identified that a good 18% of these numbers were from bots that do absolutely nothing, so we worked on banning those. Ultimately the damage was far too great and this was the equivalent of putting a bandage over a gunshot wound.
It also doesn't help that, apparently, the wiki was getting ddosed somehow while we were looking at statistics - who knows, maybe it was always getting ddosed, I wasn't the one overlooking statistics. The wiki maintainer tried to install hotlink protection or something, but again, it was all too late.
The level curve in this game is terrible. The first few bosses are strong as fuck, then your team is ten lvls higher than everything midgame.
Exp groups seem a lot more noticeable compared to normal pokemon. Hope there's a difficulty option in the expansion.

>>24835947
better mechanics
>>24835952
In what way
>>24835947
A large amount of the tedium in preparing your team both during the story and in post-game min/maxing has been made dramatically more accessible and the overall balance of the game is good enough that it's almost always viable to choose your favorites instead of having to use what's objectively better.
The story is nonexistent (Not that that's a bad thing really) and the dungeon / world design is pretty hit or miss but overall everything else is very well done and soon to be even better with the upcoming expansion.
Also it's adorable as fuck with great music.
>>24835959
>alternate palettes
In Pokemon, a Pokemon has a ~1/4000 chance (and that was doubled in Gen 6) to be an alternate color from normal (i.e. shiny), with some mechanics existing to make the odds very slightly less of a long shot.
Here, you can just buy the alternate palette for 3000 at the tailor. Or an entire alternate costume.
>type balance
Pokemon? Compare Steel as a defensive type to Ice, and remember that Steel lost 2 resistances in Gen 6 (it used to resist ghost and dark as well). Note how Ghost has only two weaknesses (one of which is itself, and also note how it's arguably the best offensive attack type in the game) and two immunities. Dragons before Gen 6 (Game Freak said Fairy types exist solely to stop Dragons). It's completely fucked and Gen 6 only made it slightly less so.
Here, the type balance is, while still not perfect (Wind is dominant as all hell, Water is prevalent), drastically improved. No type has fewer than 2 resistances or more than 5, no type has more than one immunity and those that do get fewer resistances, and no type is weak to more than 3 other types.
>preparing for competitive

>>24835959
Some stuff that I can remember right off the bat:
>No HM
They have been replaced for key items.
>Reincarnation
Faster way to breed.
>Complex maps
Some maps are mazes or just really big(but not just an open space), you may want to draw a map, or just look at it on the net.
>Seal, not catch
You can 'seal" a puppet right away with no penalties, the thing is that once they are sealed you have to defeat it to catch it.
>>24836014
So in Pokemon, you want something to be ready for competitive battling? First, you need to breed flawless IVs into it, a process that will take an eternity unless you were smart enough to just get a ditto with 31 in every IV from some hacker. Then you have to give one parent a Destiny Knot (so 5 IVs get passed on rather than 3) and the one with the nature you want an Everstone. Then you have to look up whether the thing requires egg moves. Or moves it could only learn from a previous generation, and if so then prepare for the living hell that is pre-Gen 6 breeding, or just do the sane thing and cheat instead.
So once you get all the egg moves on, start breeding until you have the right ability (if you were shooting for the hidden ability I hope you remembered to make sure the female parent had it), the right nature (thankfully Everstone guarantees that's passed on now), and the right IVs in the right spots, because you need exact combinations to get a specific hidden power type and some things NEED a specific HP type to be useful. Note that when an egg pops up is pure RNG and that the number of steps can reach ridiculous amounts (up to 10k!).
Once the universe deems you worthy of mercy and finally blesses you with a competitively viable mon, all you have to do from there is EV train it (Gen 6 made this an order of magnitude less bullshit thank god), slap on the right TMs and HMs, and settle in for the incredibly long grind to level 100. Now repeat this five more times for the other 5 team members, and then one more time for each additional team member you want to have as an option in your boxes. And Gen 6 made it an order of magnitude easier in every single way, especially in regards to legendaries (whom are now actually feasible to get good ones of since they're guaranteed at least 3 flawless IVs period).
NOW you can actually start playing competitively and losing to boring stall teams!
>>24836162
In TPDP, here's what you have to do.
Take your chosen puppet. Reincarnate it (aka press a button and done) using the rainbow stone until it has flawless IVs (assuming both "parents" are perfect in terms of IVs, it's a 1/16 chance to get perfect IVs everywhere; getting the first perfect puppet will still be difficult but once you have that things will get infinitely easier), using whatever mark you want to ensure it has the right boosted stat.
Now level it up and stance change it to whichever stance you want. Use your PP to put the EVs exactly where you want them, and then if it has the wrong ability spend the 20 PP to switch it over to the other one.
(Note that there's an item that does this in Pokemon, but it doesn't work for hidden abilities and costs 200 BP, which is best described as "more than a full party's worth of top-end hold items". I ran out of space last post to mention how many hours of Battle Maison you'll have to go through in order to get the items you need, and how since hold items can't be ported over across generations anymore you'll have to repeat the grind again in a few years anyways.)
Also note that in TPDP said top-end hold items cost regular money. Lots of it, but there are easy sources of money to grind on and it takes nowhere near as much time to afford even a 250k item as it does to afford a 48BP item in Pokemon. And since item clause is enforced online under normal circumstances in TPDP, you won't need more than one of a given item.
Now level the puppet up to 70 (which is when it learns it's last move from leveling up), use PP and skill cards to finish the moveset up, give it whatever item you want it to use, and you're done with that puppet. And if you know what you're doing you can do this with up to 5 puppets at a time as long as the last one can 1-shot anything you have it fight (whereas in Pokemon you have to wait until you've finished EV training first).
The only agonizing part is finding a battle online.

Not defending Pokemon, but you could've listed the few problems the reincarnation system has, so they aren't misled.
>You need to finish the game to use it, whereas breeding tends to be avaliable sooner
>You don't generate new puppets, just improve old ones, meaning you'll have to go out and hunt for the rarer ones, if you want, say, two Flans, both times at a 3,33% chance of appearing
>reincarnating uses items, while that's certainly enough to go by and make a full team and even more, whcih is enough for most, if you go fully obssessed, you'll need to grind such items as well(You can also savescum, which is the best alternative)
Still miles better than what happens in Pokemon, unless you cheat. Anyway, have a Raiko.
So for those of you who were interested in the wiki's future, we now have some news for you. The administrator of the forums and the late wiki has re-opened the donation pool for the wiki.
http://thpp.supersanctuary.net/forum/index.php?topic=582.0
We'll be looking into a dedicated server hosted via Lithium, it'll cost 15 dollars a month for Tier 1. Any amount helps keep the wiki up even longer, so if you can afford to drop even a little bit, it'd be greatly appreciated.
>>24836281
Yeah. Also worth mentioning is the type balance isn't as good offensively (Earth hits 4 types for SE whereas only a few others even get to hit 3 for SE, Nether offensively is basically Gen 5 Dragon, etc).
Reincarnating using items is a pain, but thankfully the item needed to reincarnate is frequently found from random encounters, or given in sets of 6 for winning online fights. Other two points are on the dot though.

It's about transferring your puppets.
>When transferring data to the Gensou Ningyou Enbu expansion, several things change depending on which puppet you started with.
It looks like if you choose the same puppet both times, then you get it at the start leveled back down to 5, whereas if you chose a different one then you get it back later (presumably post-game) in its original condition (though it looks like no item).

Any benefit to de-leveling your starter?
>>24837226
There's a whole infosheet about it.
Skimming it, it looks like you'll be able to unlock puppet transfer from your old file post-game. In order to use the wedding dress costume or hold the dream shard item, a puppet needs a "heart mark", and starter puppets have that by default.
>>24837278
Looks like you're gonna have to earn that full-waifu team.
Thanks guy, keep the info comin if you happen to look around any further or when new things get revealed if you can.

You replied to the only Raiko picture that wasn't him, Raiko is ok but I like other characters more.
I was just replying to his observations and feeding him another Raiko picture because he's fun to help and a nice guy.
>>24837278
So basically there's an incredibly rare mark (possibly shiny equivalent) that not only unlocks a second alt costume but is needed to hold a hold item that boosts all stats.
So outside of the starter, how do you get something with the heart mark? There's an actual gameplay element involved here
>>24837424
I'll bet it'll be some equivalent of happiness in Pokemon, you keep them around, fight and such and eventually, they'll get the mark.
>>24837424
Maybe it's been explained more somewhere else, but here it just says it's an indication that it's fulfilled certain conditions. I'd guess happiness, battle tower completion, or an event.
>>24837443
Well, the optimal thing to do assuming getting a heart mark is incredibly rare/hard to do would be to pick a different starter from the first go-around; you get a new starter with a heart mark as long as you don't pick the same one you picked in the first game, and then postgame your original starter comes back also with a heart mark.
Optimality!

Good Keine, she can be useful to step in othersor step in me, I would love it.
>>24839194
Moody stall is boring. I want the protean shenanigans.
>>24839241
Well then dump Kokoro. She's a fucking shit 2hu anyway.
>>24837531
only suwako's give both xp and pp, but the item that gives double xp exists twice. you can simultiously level up 3 mons at once, that is like half your team.
>>24839252
You sounds like a smogon fag.
>>24839241
she's too slow to really use protean well
>>24838520
>>24838395
i like the waster ability because i combine it with mind control to negate enemy ability and item both at a single move.
>>24839252
>She's a fucking shit 2hu anyway.
I didn't know that's how we say "best" now, I'll keep that in mind.
>>24839411
I wouldn't call her "best", but she's definitely supercute.
>>24839424
>cute girl in pink with no emotions
Sounds perfect to me.
>>24839449
She has emotions, she just can't show them properly.Nitori is best anyways.
>>24839449
Pedo arab oil prince detected.
>>24839451
>She has emotions, she just can't show them properly.
Practically the same thing, not being able to show that you are emotional is a lack of emotions.
>>24839453
>wanting girls to have emotions so they can get all moody and slutty
I just like them pure and not insane. Kokoro is a good girl, don't dirty her.

For future reference, in order to play in fullscreen you have to press f11 while in the options menu. Make sure you save first because on some systems it will just freeze (I learned this the hard way).
>>24839472
You sick pedo fuck.
>>24839476Are you saying you wouldn't?
So, just beatShinki, is there a list of postgame shit to rip through? I know about reincarnation and fighting Yukari, but not about much else. I'd check the wiki but it's fuckin' down again or something.
Where'd the best place to farm some cash, I need to buy all the skill cards that I havent gotten yet.

The elite 3 is the fastest money. A slower alternative is wild puppets outside kasen's house.
>>24839540
