While CoroCoro revealed it for both simultaneously, the officially official reveal was a game related trailer on YouTube and the official ORAS site creating a game related page for Volcanion. The anime posters/information came later the same day.

It was revealed the exact same way every mythical since Jirachi, with the exception of Victini and Genesect, has been revealed, dumbass.
The new Pokemon get revealed together with their movie role, then for the next half year you get gameplay info on them that ties into plot reveals about the movie. The movie is the main part of their promotion.
