nickname thread
Do you guys nickname your Pokemon? And if so, do you use a theme when doing it?
pic unrelated, just cool art
>>24824850
No. It's waste of time and Space.
>>24824850
Yes.
I just come up with whatever seems suitable.
For instance, I named a Raticate recently and named him Feces.
I carry a party of six dix at all times.
Nicknames are lame and very cringeyworthy. There is nothing you can come up with that will be better than the Pokémon's actual name.
Nicknaming your Pokémon is basically like humiliating them openly.
>>24824868
I nicknamed my Talonflame "Brave Bird" because I hate the name Talonflame.
>>24824868
>not giving your Pokemon pun-tacular names
I named misdreavus "Witchplz" in a recent play thru.
I wish I could remember someother ones. Many cringe worthy but a few gems.
>>24824868
>not naming your Glalie ICEis
>>24824850
I named my Lilligant Doremi, as a pun off of it's Japanese name (Doreidia or something like that) and Do Re Mi.
I also nicknamed my Talonflame Hawkeye because I'm unoriginal but still dislike the name Talonflame.
I don't normally nickname my Pokemon, but for some reason, those two stuck.
>>24824850
I nicknamed my Shiny Roserade M.I.L.F.lore
Because she has white "hair", and I took the words "flore" from french "flower" and "lore", "knowledge or learning" 'cause Milfs knos how to "Do it"
we /nickname/ thread here?
Call me autistic but I named my pokemon based on what I feel they'd match with personality wise.
Bonuses include whatever media matches with me adding them to my roster at the time. Sometimes I go back and change one if only because it feels dated.

Tyranitar - Tali
Xatu - Thane
Honchkrow - Archer
Dusknoir - Niko
Swampert - Bill
Garchomp - Allison "Tex"
Sceptile - Slash
Staraptor - Levi

Sometimes I name my ingame party after I've been playing with them for a while. One linoone got me items more often than another so I named it Bounty ("the quicker picker-upper"). Another one got me lots of rare candies, so I named it Candy.

I have a Fletchinder named Flarrow (Flare + Arrow) that I absolutely refuse to evolve because I like Fletchinder's design
Seriously why does Talonflame's name not maintain the archery theme in ANY way at all??
>identify the most relevant pokemon type (pidgey = flying)
>search for some important NPC that aligns with that type (gym leaders Falkner, Winona and Skyla; champion Lance)
>identify pokemon gender (pidgey is going to be a guy in this example)
>use one of the names from the appropriate gender (Falkner or Lance)
>don't forget to check if the pokemon in particular is more closely related to one of the NPCs you selected than the others (Falkner has a Pidgeotto as we all know)
>name pidgey Falkner
Easy and simple, always works for me on every game nowadays. Don't forget there are NPCs that don't exaclty have a main type but the pokemon you have is a staple for them like Riley and Lucario and many others.
>Alakazam
>Cereal Killer
>not naming your Galvantula Tarantesla
I think this thread is a subtle way of OP getting everyone to give out their cool names
I nickname all my competitively viable (read: IV bred and EV trained) pokemon after characters in Elder Scrolls lore.
Arcanine named Barbas.
Greninja named Lorkhan.
A Belly Drum Azumarill named Clavicus Vile.
A M-Pidgeot named Kenarthi.
et cetera.
>>24824876
>not "Pyrogrine"
>>24824850
I usually just use whatever since no one's going to see my in-game mons, anyway.
For online cart stuff I try to put a little more thought or at least don't do obvious stuff like naming a Fire type fucking "Blaze".
The only times I've ever felt particularly proud with naming stuff was with my shiny Honchkrow "Saints Crow" or my Chatot "Pollyphony"
>>24824850
No. If I nicknamed one Pokémon, I'd have to nickname all of them. They'd all have to be on par with one another so that none of them had a worse or less clever name than another. No joke names like "Dicks" or "Kum." I'd probably prefer something that could easily be substituted for the actual species name like >>24825481 or "Falsawood" for Sudowoodo.
>>24825474
>Greninja named Lorkhan.
>A Belly Drum Azumarill named Clavicus Vile.
>not naming your Belly Drum Azumarill Lorkhan
Do you even Doom Drum?
>>24825801
"Do I Doom Drum," he asks.
>Lorkhan is a subgradient of Sithis/PSJJJ/Padomay and is therefore chaotic and primal in nature
>Protean
>Belly Drum Azumarill is a gamble and can blow up in your face
>Clavicus Vile is the Prince of Bargains and ritual pacts and typically uses semantics to screw people over
Named a Heliolisk "Threadwright," one of the Y Magne-Ge
Named a male Sylveon "Crassius." You know damn well why.
Zoroark, "Nerevar,"
Seht cut off his Face so he can walk as anyone.
Mandibuzz, "Potema"
Bones around girdle -> necromancy
>>24824850
Obvious best nicks:
Steelix: BOMBER
Ursaring: Bjorbar
Blastoise: Baboon
Pelipper: Piumotto
fuck no
I like to give my mons album, band or song names, like jojo stands
>>24825976
I forgot to leave Australia before uploading, apologies
I name them after Greek or Roman gods or historical people, usually scientists or military/political leaders. So my Swampert is named Poseidon, my Skarmory is named Krushchev, Dusknoir is Charon, Hydreigon is Hades, Volcarona is Hephaestus, Garchomp is Rommel, etc.
>>24825985
>male Mawile
>female Noivern
I can forgive the male Roserade to a degree.
>>24826035
>having a preferred gender
>>24826035
They're tedious enough to find. Didn't feel like resetting them. And the Roserade had a good nature.
>>24826046
>not
So basically you're going for a team of traps and dykes, yes?
>>24825588
The pokemon doesnt care you big fag
My favorite owned Pokemon is a Shiny Altaria I originally got in Emerald. I namedherCielia.
I also have a Feraligatr named Gregor and an Aggron named Big Momma.
Don't let people tell you how to have fun.
>>24826470
But I do, you colossal fuck. I nickname all or none. 721 interesting, different nicknames? No thank you.
i nickname my story pokemon for the feels, after that, I never use nicknames.
>>24824850
I nickname my mons.
>>24826553
Mine in OR is nicknamed Nymphonia.
I can't remember many offhand, but here's a few I use:
Nidoking - Aralakh
Cloyster - Nyctelios
Chansey - SOULSMASHER
Aerodactyl - Tep
Feraligatr - Fotbitr
Flygon - Spencer
That isn't even a team, just what I remember.
I almost never nickname my Pokemon. If I do it means the pokemon has an incredibly fucking terrible default name.
Like Talonflame. Seriously. What 12 year old thought that one up?
>>24824995
>Garchomp - Allison "Tex"
>literally nicknaming a nickname
???
>>24826761
Nice name, Anon.
>>24824995
nice
>>24824868
>calling your pokémon by their species name
Yeah, I totally named my dog ''Dog'' and my hamster ''Hamster''. Fuck off.
