So update.
Picked Snivy. Caught a Purloin that I can't use since it doesn't over lap types with Snivy. And by pure luck I caught Lotad on the next route, so two of my three types are grass and water. Then I caught an Azurill at the Ranch and was excited until I realized that Azurill isn't water so I can't use it.
I haven't even fought Hugh yet and Snivy is level 11, and since Cherens Munchlax is at 14 it can't level up any more. This is not going to be fun.

And I cannot continue. Lotad just couldn't deal with both Tailow and Tepig, and when Snivy cleaned up he leveled up.

For anyone who says they HAVE to evolve their starter to beat Cheren in Blaze Black chalenge mode, this proves you wrong. I leveled all my mons up to level 14. I lost a mon but it still shows that you don't need to over level.
I posted ina couple nuzgen thread awhile ago. Basically I'm doing the Ultimate nuzlocke challenge. I made it through Blue version, moved onto Crystal, and had two hiccups.
One was when an Ace Trainer's Starmie swept through 3 of my members causing a big team reboot. The second was Clair, who destroyed half of my team again, then I was foolish enough to try and catch Suicune as a way of replacing my losses, only for him to seal the nail in the coffin and break out of every ultra ball I could afford, whiling scoring two critical hit KOs on my team, leaving me with just an Electrode lol.
Time to restart Crystal. Which sucks because I was just about to make my way to the Pokemon League, but it would have been hell to grind up 4-5 new teams members from the slim pickings in my box. I'm playing on an actual cartridge, so I don't have a turbo button to save the day. I think it is better to just cut my losses and give it a fresh start.
I feel silly about the whole thing. Losing to Crystal, which isn't that difficult of a game to nuzlocke. It's just long and grinding is horrible which makes a loss that much more harder to cope with. Let alone losing most of you team within two fights. Here's to a new start.
