Sylveon, and by extension most Fairy types, are only faking the cutesy act. In reality they're just as nasty as the fairies of legend, and will subject you to alien horrors that would spook even Ghost types once your guard is down.
Sylveon is clearly based on vampires, and you can't get edgier than vampires.
