To be fair, primary and secondary types have no relevance to gameplay, and only very limited bearing on design. There are normal evolutions that undergo primary type changes, we may have not seen a mega evolution undergo one purely because of dumb luck and not a specific restriction.
Then again, an official example doesn't exist (though the list of dual type megas who undergo a type change and not merely monotypes becoming dual types is quite small already. It's like, Mega Altaria, CharX, and Gyarados if I remember right.)
