Grass for the bro factor and for versatility. You could make a mono grass team that has awesome type coverage, sweepers, walls, and support mons.

Mainly because my favourite Pokemon, Hydreigon, Flygon and Haxorus, are dragon-type but also because I like the lore behind them. Plus they genuinely tend to be pretty damn strong with versatile movepools.

See when you say type, it could mean move type or pokemon type. So I went with attack move type. Ice Beam, Icicle Crash, Ice Punch, Ice Fang, Avalanche, Ice Shard, Blizzard...

There were only two other Water Pokémon introduced in Generation 6 (Barbaracle and Clawitzer) and Gen 5 introduced Jellicent, Keldeo and Tirtouga (for LC).

Half? Not quite. Made a cursory list of 59 fully-evolved Water type Pokémon and only counted 9 shitmons and 16 niche mons. Even then, some of the shitmons can be somewhat useful in some conditions.
