No other gap year has felt as bad as this one just because of the monumental amount of faggotry and mediocrity that came with it. Even the 2 year gap between Emerald and DP didn't feel as bad as this.

Ignoring that injected Pokémon aren't any different from legit Pokémon when done right so it would have no impact on the competitive scene (though it might on the collector's side), injection became big in 2014, and I'm pretty sure we had powersaves in 2013 as well.

Injection is early 2015 and PS is 2014. In 2013 all we had was Instacheck and cloning in December if you have 2 DS's and a ton of patience. And PS was pretty much just a cloning/shinifying machine until late Aug 2014 when they finally introduced IV changing codes.
