It's still a decent, simple movie with a lot of good animation, and makes you wanna use Entei afterwards.

That would be the third movie, known as Spell of the Unown, objectively one of the worst movies.
A little girl whose father works in the Ruins gets lost in them or something, and the Unown see that she doesn't like how her father is never around so they use their psychic magic to make Entei her new dad and give her a fantasy world. However, she doesn't have a mother in this fantasy world, so Entei kidnaps Ash's mom to be her new mother. Completely pointless shit happens for like an hour, including the little girl wishing herself older and battling Misty underwater, and STAIRS STAIRS STAIRS. Finally the little girl realizes she's acting stupid and has a heartwarming moment with her real father and the Unown stop fucking around and then the movie ends.
I saw the first two. Never got any cards. Still pissed about it.

Only saw the first one in theaters, but it was near the end of its theatrical run since the biggest thing I remember is that it was just me, my uncle, and my sister and one of her friends in the room and we threw popcorn at the screen
The only one I saw was Pokemon 2000 when I was 7-8. I remember that they gave me a small Gengar figurine in a collar when the movie ended. It was cute.

Well, if I had a choice between eating shit and eating rotten food, I'd eat the rotten food. If you held me at gunpoint and told me to watch one Pokemon movie I definitely wouldn't pick several of them.
In my opinion the only one out of the first five that wasn't complete dogshit was 4ever and that was still pretty bad. Mewtwo has BROOOOTHER MY BROOOOOTHER, 2000 made Ash a Mary-Sue, and Heroes was godawful, with Latias shape shifting into Bianca, the motive of the villains being stupid, Latios dying, and then the forced kiss at the end.

Horrid taste, 4ever is easily the worst of the first 5 movies.
I saw the first and second in theatres. I thougth the 1st sucked, while the 2nd was great. Now that I'm older though I realize it's the complete opposite. The japanese version of the 1st film is actually pretty decent apart from the ending, while the 2nd film is fucking terrible. The world is ending becasue some fucking birds couldn't take a nap? And it can only be stopped by another bird singing a song? The plot makes no sense whatsoever. And the villain is the most generic shit ever. Still fun movie, though.
But 3 is better than both of them.

Pokemon Heroes was terrible. This movie started the routine of "Oh, no! This random, legendary Pokemon has a problem/is in trouble!" The so called main characters are reduced to supporting characters or mere extras. Every movie afterwards had the same story of "We have to help/protect this random legendary."
Saw the first three in theaters and had a great time. The first pokemon movie is one theater experience I still remember vividly for some reason. The other two as well. I remember that the 3rd movie had absolutly no one going to see so it was just my little brother, grandparents, and I watching it in a theater all to ourselves. Was pretty cool

Saw the first one in theatre, and for the 9-year old me, it sure was an experience. Like half the school including everyone I knew was at that theatre that night, and I'm sure some of them watched it for their second or third time.
Mom fell asleep though.

Saw every movie that played in my area at those times. Such good fun. Free cards and goodies I got I still have.
1, 2, and 3 were in theaters. 4 was, as the manager of my local movie theater told me, "only the top 20 biggest movie theaters in America are playing that movie", and as such, not in my local theater. I was in 5th grade, my parents aren't going to drive me to a different state just for a fucking movie, and that was when Pokemon was declining in popularity anyway.
So yeah, I only saw 1, 2, and 3. Not every movie theater got 4 in America.
Only 1, wanted to go see 2 but my parents wouldn't take me and I was moving when 3 was in theaters so I didn't get to see it

Mewtwo Strikes Back, 2000, Celebi, Entei, Lucario, Latios & Latias and some parts of Keldeo, Deoxys, and Arceus.
Only the first. I saw it with my dad and he didn't care for it, as a result my parents decided they didn't want to sit through any more of them and I wasn't able to go to the cinema alone so I had to wait for the VHS to come out.
By the time I was able to go by myself they stopped releasing Pokémon movies in the cinema over here.
