This year rules made sure that I will participate, at least its not 2015 meta. Also as a vgc player who started on 6th gen, its nice to try similar meta that they used to have often in the beginning.
Well shit, I'm out for 2016 then. 2015 was really fun for me since I didn't give a fuck about good shit getting used, but now a format with even more broken mons? Yeah, no thanks. I hope they don't implement these rules on Battlespot.

Although I have to say, the one bad thing about this ruleset is increasing an already high barrier to entry. Can't imagine the people who were on the fence and could only soft reset for legends really want have any kind of desire to play this year.

I play VGC and think this is a terrible idea
Its far different to the old 2010 rules

>no 780 BST pokemon that can hold whatever it fucking wants
Not to mention it will encourage even more hacking than there already is (because that 6IV Shiny Rayquaza your opponent has is totally legit)
In VGC10 you could use shit like Tyranitar and Abomasnow to play the weather wars. Now you're stuck with primals and Skill Swap.

Just my opinion but I think this is an absolutely terrible idea.
In the current VGC I feel like a lot of stuff is viable, some of it is pretty fringe and needs teams built around it but you can use a lot of different things and more or less make it work.
I'm not going to argue that CHALK isn't the giant elephant in the room, the results don't really lie. But you can use a lot of different stuff to at least threaten pieces of that team. You can be at least a bit creative in your team building as long as you aren't a fucking idiot about it, like expecting your Iron Fist Ledian to counter genies with its Ice Punch or something.
I'm pretty sure that the 100+ jump in BST will make the top threats in VGC16 a lot harder to work around than the threats in this format. It's like we're gonna get 12 or so new top-end 'mons to use at the expense of 100 or so lower-end options. It's gonna be a weird day when stuff like Lando-T and Conkeldurr are considered super niche picks for your team.
