I think everything about X is amazing it literally blew my mind. Wondertrades sick, the battle Maison is challenging, playing online is brutal. I liked both gens but I'll admit for some reason I found myself replaying red version a fuckton more than gold

I enjoy going through the games once; I have difficulties almost ever, doing a 2nd play-through. B2 and W2 were the only pair of games that succeeded in getting me to replay the "same" content because I was able to unlock Challenge mode for my W2 run and I had enough neat new pokemon designs to work with in picking a 2nd team of favourites (technically a 3rd team since my Black team is my favourite 6 Unova-mons and my Black 2 team is different)
Playing through X after beating Y was a struggle; I only just beat the pokemon league nearly 2 years later and I can't be bothered to do the post game Looker story. I got AS too knowing I'd have the same issue beating it after OR and I barely got anywhere in the game after setting up my team.
I can't understand how a pokemon fan would never play a generation at least once though. All the games are easy to emulate, except for the 3DS games. If you're not gonna buy a 3DS just to play pokemon, then you're poor or a mediocre fan tbqh.

More isn't always better, especially not with the gyms.
Crystal was my first game and is still my favorite because I could use watefall to go to Kanto and fight 8 more gyms and another E4, I didn't even have to fight any of the Kanto gyms in order the very first one I fought was vermillion
I played some Yellow and Red/Blue but it wasn't my thing especially with gen 2 kinda spoiling me on that
I got both Ruby and Sapph afterwards and both were good but i played Ruby way more
Diamond was my second favorite because of grafix and being able to transfer shit from FR/LG (which I got red at gamestop sometime after for 2 bucks) and R/S, I never played E
After I lost my diamond cartridge I kinda gave up for a few years until I got Omega Ruby this year and I both love it and hate it for the things it changed from R/S
Personally I don't mind never having played HG/SS or the original Black/White, B/W 2 sounds fun but it's a bit too late for me to start now

251 - 151 = 100 new pokemon, new is the keyword, if total quantity is all that mattered then ORAS are the best games in the series
Also of the 100, 13 are evolutions and 6 are baby forms of previously introduced pokemon, so 81 brand new pokemon and 94 good new pokemon if you assume each new evolution is a positive. But then you consider how many new pokemon families from Johto are awful stat wise and never get used competitively.
Face it, Gen 2 was neat when you played it as a kid but in retrospect its fucking awful where as Gen 1 is only bad in that it has out-dated mechanics improved heavily by the new games and not because the monsters you're trying to collect are mediocre in comparison to their peers in both battle and design.

The series is childish anyway; I enjoy embracing my inner child and relishing in the new designs they come up with for Pokemon, what boy didn't want a T-Rex pokemon as a kid? Now there is one. Go look at the new designs, there's a good chance you might find one you like. That's the enjoyment to be had with these new games.

The enjoyment is that they finally released a 3D Pokemon game instead of just adding more Pokemon into a 2d world. Having played X I've seen some of the new Pokemon they're not bad, but not something that I need updated every year. I sit on my games enjoy them and replay them.
