I want to trade a Phantump to evolve it with a friend since I don't ow a 2nd 3DS but if you stop the evolution once you trade it to your friend and trade is back, will it still evolve?
Not sure I understand your question. Why would you need/want to stop it?

1. You can't stop an evolution that is the result of a trade between you and a friend.
2. Just make it hold an Everstone, tell your friend to remove it and trade it back to you.

lol I don't even watch pokemon evolve half the time. When you have to watch the same little cutscene literally hundreds of times (gotta catch 'em all) it gets old.

They do, I tried it a couple of days ago.

It works for every pokemon that evolves through trade except Kadabra.
