Huh. So that's a thing. How did you find this out, and why?

I was thinking about what to name my children if I ever want to have any, and I came across this.
>brendan and brandon are variants of each other
"do they know my name?"
"some of them know you as that red haired kid, some of them called you Brandon"
"oh I hate that"
>>24787932
POMF
PLS
>>24787932But it's supposed to be Ground and Water, not Fire and Water.
Still, that's a bit interesting, to be honest. Nice detective work, OP.

>Maya is derived from the Hebrew name Mayim
You have to be fucking kidding me, MAYA is MAYA, JEWS GET OUT REEEEEEE
>>24787932
actually, that's just a coincidence because Brendan and May's names are based on the red oni and the blue oni from the Japanese folklore.
May is actually supposed to be because Haruka has the word for "spring" in it and May is a month in spring.
I dunno Brendan, but it probably has something to do with bravery since his Japanese name, Yuuki, literally means "bravery" or "courage".

Doesn't yuki also mean snow?
they are based off of the Red and Blue Oni of Japanese folklore

Yuki does, but not Yuuki.

This is a reference to the third generation Red/Blue remakes, which were released in the same generation as the original ORAS, "Ruby and Sapphire." They were called Fire Red and Water Blue.

I thought Yuuki meant snow. No wait, that's one u.
Oh, and it's Welsh for Prince.
>>24787932
Holy shit that's pretty cool, I love subtilty like this

>Fire is red
>Water is blue
This makes a lot of sense. It's not uncommon knowledge that Brendan is based off of the red oni and May is based off of the blue oni from Japanese folklore.
