I disliked OR/AS so much because X/Y, while not awful, was subpar, and OR/AS made X/Y look amazing. It's the first time I have ever had to actively push myself to finish a Pokemon games Story section.
Post game after Delta Episode is nearly non-existant as well, I don't care about no Battle Frontier but I care about nothing rewarding to do post game.

Personally I thought the main game was some of the best of the whole series, but Delta Episode was such fucking shit and overall there isn't that much more postgame than what was in vanilla RS.

The amusement of catching a shiny was drowned out by the infuriating knowledge that I found a goddamn Shiny before I could find a fucking Gorebyss.

I found 2 Shinies when I was on a catching spree with a Scizor at the lead in Emerald.
I've yet to try it in a different game, but I wouldn't be surprised if Swarm had something to do with Shinies. To be fair, I ran into a fair amount of Pokemon, too. But it must have been 2 Shinies out of maybe 1000-1500 total Pokemon (both during that catching spree and during the regular gameplay, too).
I know Swarm increases the encounter rate, too.

I SR for 4 months to get that fucking shiny Oshawott to do a badge quest in Black and those Feraligatr were the first shinies I ever bred. I didn't have access to the Masuda method or shiny charm or anything so the odds were the original 1/8549 or whatever they were. I filled the pc with totodile eggs and started hatching. After a few hundred eggs my beautiful shiny FEMALE Totodile hatched and the very last egg I had hatched into a shiny male. The real kick in the balls is that a few weeks after I lost all those shinies I found a virtual router that let me download and use the pokebank.

Anyone who has trouble finding a shiny needs to add someone's friend code and go to the safari zone in XY. It's the easiest way to get legit shinies. I've filled two boxes with shinies all from 6th gen, most of which are from the safari zone.
