And it totally wastes your time in BW when you're trying to force your way through boring trainer battles, only to get cockblocked temporarilly by Sturdy.
Good times. Less forgettable than most others becase I'll forever remember it as the "final evolution of that fucking annoying rock rat".

Galalies mega is pretty underwhelming with 120 attack not being all that strong and 100 speed not being fast at all these days. It's coverage is probably pretty damn weak without refrigerate

Unlike Gen II, gen III actually has a large percentage of introduced Pokemon that are actually good for respectable battling. Hell, all three of its starters actually HAD OU analyses before getting Megas, something you can't say for the rest of the others.

Just because you don't like a gen doesn't mean it doesn't have much battle presence. Also, battle capability isn't the only thing that determines whether or not something is shit. There are more good gen 2 battlers than you mentioned and at least gen 2 has good designs. That's more than can be said for gen 3 or gen 4.

Items are actually less manual than mega evolutions, activating automatically in battle. The only "manual" aspect of held items is choosing to attach them outside of battle. Mega evolution has to be manually chosen and activated during battle, plus choosing to attach the mega stone is no different then choosing to attach any other item.
It's a superficial difference, both Kyogre and Glalie achieve their maximum power on turn one with no prior set up.
