That dragon shape is pretty much taken by the Gen V dragons. I agree it looks too similar, maybe if the head shape had a longer snout or bigger jaw size. The spikes are too similar in shape too.

I made the fish cat's tail more thick to follow the rest of the line, and gave the sea lion hind flippers.

The transition between the Fakemon is meant to be a bit jarring to get the pun across, but you're right about the sea lion not looking similar enough.
They're meant to be an ideal "pet" Pokemon, with a pet fish that could evolve into the pet cat.

Thorny Devil Fakemon, really quick sketch. Thorny devils have a "fake head" that they use to defend themselves from predators. A bit of a buzzsaw was thrown into the mix.

Also take into consideration the environments they'll be in. That outfit would be fucking retarded in a mountainous/snowy terrain for example.

And I know it's sexy, but maybe don't make the pants frayed or ripped. That's stylish, but wouldn't make sense for travel/hiking etc. because the pants are compromised and would rip more.

Have you ever worn long socks? They provide a lot more warmth than you'd think.
I originally had her wear a denim jacket with sleeves around the elbows, but it over complicated the design. But yes, the snow part of the region is by the second badge so I did take it into consideration.

The rips are because she is already active, living near the country and all but I can remove it for folds instead.

Thoughts on this grass starter and it's second evolution? Haven't made the final evolution yet.
The idea for the line is based off the sugar gliders, hang glider/glider airplane and pilot uniform.

Shitloads of concept art for fire starter. I was going for a snake mixed with a sandworm idea but it didn't work for the design, or couldn't find a suitable starter design. So I decided to go with a toad/frog that evolves into a salamander with sandworm features.

A psyduck-like donkey with psychic power that can't control on its first stage (thats why it looks confused and floating), if it evolves normally (the one below) gets a bunch of psychic power and spares itself getting ultra-fast. The Grass and Fire mons are too similar in body type. Starter trios always represent a gradient of different styles/bodytypes, with one almost always being quadrepedal and the others having distinct silhouettes from eachother. Even in Gen 6 Greninja is usually depicted crouching so that the three starters appear more varied.

The water one is neat but needs some more human-likefeatures, particularly facially. Starters should be easy to identify with, and covering up the face makes this more difficult
Grass one has similar problems, a more expressive face would help. Maybe have the eyes be a bit more Steamboat Willy, arrange the face moss in a goofy way to give it more personality

"Fire monkey" starter has already been done. Is that a rock shield on one arm and a flaming fist on the other?

Mostly they just need to be more varied. Have one that's a little goofy, one that seems smart, etc. Mix up those body shapes and styles

I think I'm going to fix the razor looking spikes so it isn't complicated looking, and probably fix up the colours to make it "pop" a bit more. The eye patterns need to be bigger anyway as this current look doesn't convey that idea enough.

Alakazam has who for a clone exactly? Sure we have Gardevoir, Gothitelle and Reuniclus but none of those are even statistically and competitively similar. Only Gardevoir and Gothitelle are, and just in the aesthetic department.

Machamp has Conkeldurr, sure, but are you really that buttblasted to have two "regional brawler/musclemon" when there are

I've noticed that, too. It's usually a fakedex's pitfall because I see panda brawlers with bamboo everywhere, or they just make a vaguely muscular humanoid that simply gets bigger. I don't really blame them, fighting type is probably the hardest to conceptualize and execute into a design because your main inspirations are moves and skills, not animals or mythological creatures. Hell, my fighting type fakemons up to now are still mostly likely ripoffs. Whenever I do come up with something interesting conceptually (i.e., kabuki warrior, yamabushi, etc), it;s hard to translate into a design.

What actually surprises me about Conkeldurr is that they managed to repeat Machamp's progression without making them too similar aesthetically.

I understand the divergent paths, and playing with the steel type instead of dark is really cool but I really think something else can be done with the more fucked up evolution. Okay, so just hear me out on this one. I got the idea at like 2 am while stoned, so it's a little... out there. The concept behind it is a mix of Cthulu and a creature so hideous that it hides its face under a paper bag. The first form is able to see out if its bag through the hole, but the second form uses its tentacles to feel around, since it is so ugly that it now just paints faces on its bags to make itself look more appealing. I'm also gonna need help deciding on a type for these guys. I was thinking of some combination of dark, poison, and/or fairy.

The fact that most Fighting types are humanoid throws artists off balance. Humanoid Pokemon are hard to pull off without falling into slight uncanny territory. It has got to be about the shape it has and the shape needs to incorporate how it fights.

That's the solution in most cases. Finding another object of inspiration is what brings forward the better designs, not just with Fighting types either.
