And now, we get to Stealth Rock. A major trouble I have with Stealth Rock is that it breaks this balance with regards to the momentum. How? It turns “keeping momentum” into “actualizing momentum”. If you have Stealth Rock up on the opponent’s side of the field, as long as you keep the momentum (thereby forcing your opponent to consistently switch), you are actualizing your momentum since Stealth Rock is chipping away at your opponent’s health. It turns “being in a favorable position” into “winning” without any work on behalf of the player. Whereas you otherwise have the burden of actualizing your momentum, converting your favorable position – by predicting well, attacking at the right times, setting up at the right times, etc. – Stealth Rock allows you to simply maintain the momentum and increase your lead.

IF IT CAN BE USED TO HELP A MOD/STAFF OUT THEN IT'S IN. IF THE COMMUNITY BEATS MODS/STAFF WITH IT CONSTANTLY AND KEEPS THEM OFF THE LADDER THEN THE MOVE/POKEMON IS PUT UP FOR REMOVAL OR RECOMMENDATION BY RIGGED POLLS TO BE REMOVED.
SHOWDOWN IS KNOWN FOR ITS PEDOPHILIA AND CIRCLE JERKING. ALSO THEIR GROUP OF CLOSE KNIT FRIENDS AND BUDDY PAL SYSTEMS WILL KEEP THEIR GAME THE WAY THEY WANT WHILE FOOLING THE PUBLIC TO BELIEVE THEIR OPINIONS MATTER WHEN AT THE END OF THE DAY IT'S ONLY THE STAFF THAT'S PLANTED THE IDEAS BY GOING UNDERCOVER AND PRETENDING TO BE SAID PART OF THE COMMUNITY. ERGO, ALL IDEAS THE COMMUNITY COMES UP WITH IS ACTUALLY A MOD GATHERING SUPPORT OR STAFF GATHERING SUPPORT WHILE USING PSYCHOLOGY TO BRAINWASH THE MASSES.

IT'S REALLY QUITE SIMPLE, DESU SENPAI.

Rock types absorb Stealth Rock now.
Case closed.
>>
I don't have a problem with Stealth Rock. Toxic Spikes is much more brutal, people just don't use it because it's harder to set up than the rocks and the rocks are more popular.

Honestly the only thing I hate about the rocks now is that it rapes Mega Beedrill. Beedrill is for once in its life legit and the rocks kill it.
>>
>>24754376
i actually got a Moltres in a randombattle and it managed to stall and kill legends like a damn pro
>>
>>24755269
1 layer of toxic spikes is worthless. It actually hurts you and stops you from inflicting decent statuses on the opponent.
>>
>>24755276

Yeah but 2 layers of toxic spikes is brutal. I've seen people run that with stall and then clean up with shit like Hex Gengar and it hurts.
>>
why aren't MUH PEBBLES banned?

12.5% damage on everything without flying/levitate.
25% damage cap on everything with flying/levitate.

Or for more hilarity, add an elemental version for every type and they don't stack with one another (using a different element will replace the old one). Let's see how flying dragons like losing 50% on switch-in due to ice hazard or how Genesect loses 50% because of fire hazard.
>>
>>24755693
Smogon would just ban them all but Stealth Rock
>>
Fag Pebbles is the only thing keeping Talonflame from destroying OU entirely.
>>
>>24755715
Seaking has higher Attack than Smogonbird.
>>
>>24755715
Talonflame is not entitled to OU
We could ban him if he proves too good without rocks.
>>
The no pebbles ladder was really popular at the end of gen 5, why they removed it?
>>
Pebbles damages are doubled but disappears after hitting one pokemon
>>

>literally ohko on 4x weak mons
good one
>>
>>24756278
like rock throw ohko-ing charizard. I want pebbles to be a regular attack that hit on switch and no longer an entry hasard, forcing the opponent to switch on something that resist rock type, like when you fear stone miss for Landorus-T.
>>
>>24756234
Smogonbird has 120bp stabs. That's an entire choice band worth of difference between it and seaking's waterfall.
>>
>>24756234

So? That bird has high attack anyway, with Brave Bird and Flare Blitz, and it can Swords Dance on a switch. It has a priority STAB 120 damage move like 126 speed wasn't enough and the only reason it's not harassing you with U-Turn is because it dies if it switches in twice with the rocks up.

Smogonbird is absolutely stupid. Not genie tier, but close.
>>
Smogonbird also gets Tailwind. Faggot rocks really are its one weakness. If they're gone you will see Talonflame on 90% of teams.

>ban Talonflame

And then what? Then you have to deal with Mega Venusaur, Amoonguss, and Contrary Serperior.
>>
>>24756424
>talonflame is literally the only way to deal with venusaur, amoonguss and serperior
>>
>>24756307
Except that with Rock Throw you have to predict the Zard coming in and using it at that turn.
>>
>>24756424
Like how we deal with Landorus, Garchomp, Scizor and Heatran? I have no problem with that.

Actually, having some grassers being used more would be fun. What's not fun is giving up on setting up anything weak to flying because even if you get to +6/+6, Smogonbird will still revenge kill you.

iirc didn't they shut it down after 1 week or something? Their findings found that it was very unhealthy, but the meta was so short lived it did not get time to adapt and evolve at all.

Smogon killed it because it would have brought attention to the fact that Stealth Rock really is overcentralizing and they cannot have that. Their precious stone waifus.
>>
>>24756445

You act like Heatran and Landorus didn't fag up the game either.
>>
>>24756464
Iirc shit like Shell Smash Baton Pass to Kyurem-B was allowed, no wonder it was "unhealthy".
>>
>>24755453
Layers. 1 layer caps it at 12.5%, 2 layers caps it at 25%, 3 layers caps it at 50%.
>>
>Stealth Rock is broken!
>even though some of the top Pokemon of each generation since its inception are actually weak to it, such as: Gyarados, Zapdos, Volcarona, Salamence, Charizard, Talonflame, etc

Sure it completely shits on some Pokemon, like Moltres, but for the most part a good Pokemon is still good even with a weakness to SR. In fact, SR has arguably been the only thing keeping many of these top-tier threats in line.

They shut it down because it actually got *more* popular than regular OU.

How about thy introduce steal rock equivalents?

Hot Coals - Fire type.
Thorn Bush - Grass type.
Barbed Wire - Steel type.
Geyser Pit - Water type.

>>

>>
>>24762932
Because it would be a change brought by all players. Smogon STILL thinks that only people "in the staff" and high ranked players should have any say in the meta.

Every thread created about the meta by "non badge holders" started getting locked at some point, no matter the quality.
>>
>>24763158
>only high ranked players should have any say in the meta

They should. The same way people under adulthood shouldn't have any say in a presidential election. ;)

the person who has done the most to keep muh white boogeyman in power is Hillary, you know nothing of politics. Stick to Japanese monsters.
>>
>>24755453
just remove them and have spikes hit flying/levitating mons
>>
I just don't get why they love rocks so much. As many people have pointed out it's one of the most overcentralizing things in the meta. Literally it's one of the controlling factors in how people build teams. Why do smogon love them so much?
>>
>>24763678

It means you can stay in the EZPZ land of OHKOs and 2HKOs with that extra bit of chip damage. It also means if you're winning you can just stay ahead, since trying to make a comeback with good switching gets punished.
>>
>>24763678
>Like some others have said, I'm enjoying this ladder so much more than the standard OU ladder. Without SR, I feel like you have to actually put thought into how you're going to set up a win condition, rather than trying to get rocks up as early as possible so you can wear your opponent down enough to clean up with X sweeper. Of course, one might say the same about spikes, but spikes aren't nearly as oppressive as SR, especially since flying types are far more viable. On a ladder note, I greatly recommend trying quagsire. I peaked at #1 with it yesterday because it does so amazingly well against the huge influx of Dragonite. Tentacruel is also still a behemoth in my experience, largely due to the absence of Ferrothorn. The toxic spike support it provides has been very valuable, despite flying types being more common. It also just refuses to die in the rain.

One of the posts in Smogon. I'd say >>24763683 is accurate. People just don't want to work for a win.
>>
I don't think sr/stall is a cheap win, I just hate that everyone uses it so much and that it is protected over other strategies.
