What would the current meta look like if the physical/special split never happened?
Mega Sceptile for decent special sweeper.
Everything else would really fucking suck.
There would only be like 2 dark type pokemon used ever.

It COMPLETELY changes the way defensive pokemon work, because now type match ups are confined to a specific side of the spectrum. If you're a special wall but all your weaknesses are special too you're garbage.

Charizard-X a shit. Keldeo's Secret Sword is useless so Keldeo a shit too. Weavile a shit, pretty much all physical Ice types a shit.
Zoroark would be the premier Pursuit trapper, since it and Houndoom are the only Dark types with decent special attack that learns the move.
Ghost was Physical before the split, oddly enough. Very few usuable ghosts, since most ghosts are special. Since Trevenant is Physical it might make it back to OU as one of the better ghost types.

High hp low defence is EXTREMELY inefficient defence wise. It's why drifblim and wailord are fucking frail as paper. Shuckle is significantly bulkier than Blissey on the physical side for instance.
