Hey guys, I'm on the GS localization team and figured I'd share one of the next updates in the pipeline. Not sure when it'll hit, but we've finished all the translations and shit involved.

Shiny Pokemon are going to be added. The way it works is, once you've S-Ranked a stage, choosing the stage again gives you an option to either play the normal stage again, or spend 2 hearts to play the Shiny version of the stage. I don't know what the stages will be like, probably just scaled up to act as an item sink.

Shinies can be caught just like normals, and you will have a separate Shinydex to keep track of them all. The game will also keep track of S ranks on shiny stages, which just act like normal and add to your total S ranks (which I would assume would let you get a few extra easy S-ranks, but again I don't know how bad these stages are).

Since they are kept separately, you can use them separately. So you can have a normal and a shiny-version of a Pokemon on the same team if you wanted to double-up for whatever reason.

Sorry I don't have more info, that's all I could gleam from all the localization work we did, I'm not a playtester.

Example:

Yes only for that combo. They're pretty bad most of the time, exceptions being Pyre on a M-Blaze all fire team or in timed stages. Sky Blast is better than the others as it's a full x2 compared to the lower modifiers, and since there are 2 base 80 flying types with the ability on a base 70 (and a future base 60 mega).

The type based ones like Sky Blast, Pyre, etc do 1.2x damage for all matches of that type in the combo. So Pyre is for all Fire types, any other types do their normal damage.

Hitting/Damage Streak are different. The first match of each consecutive turn does an increasing amount of damage (1.2x the previous) but other matches in the combo are normal damage.

So since some people are worried about stage 101+, let's do some theoretical math, ok?
This is based on theory so you might add or change some numbers, but it should give you a very rough idea what to expect, cost wise.
before stage 101, the only issues were stage 50 and 100. Both can be beaten easly with just Attack plus, so that makes 6000 coins.
Stage 140-149 may require +10 seconds (if you suck), so lets add 9 * 800 to that. 13200 so far. Out comes stage 150 and the HP is of the charts! Lets say Attack Plus and Disruption Delay should make this happen. On the higher end, you might need 10 more seconds so you have 4500(5300) + 13200 = 17700(18500). Stage 191-198 went super retard and you need Attack + for all of them. 3000 times 8 = 41700(42500). Stage 199 and 200 are probably aiming for you to spend DD, Attack + and +10, so 5300 times 2 = 52300(53100).
Thats a lot, But you also make some money so lets take 11000+200(first try) + 200*30coins away = 17200.
So be prepared to pay 35100(35900) coins if you aim for all 4. If you only aim for 3, be prepared to loose around 500(1300) coins.

I might be off somewhere here and at some points you may need more items or tries, but its safe to say that aiming for 3 candies costs much less than aiming for 4.

Back when the heart exploit, or the Facebook glitch, was still around I used it to grind Meowth. I eventually got 99k in about a couple of hours.
I still spend the coins but I stop when I get to 80k. I grind meowth to get back up to 99k. I don't spend my coins like a madman. I got like 5 2k's from Latias, too.

If you have problems getting mewtwo you probably dont need the candy from luke. So you just need to get among the best 100k players. Dont forget that the stage hasnt items and no disruptions. Using shufflemove with a somewhat decent team (around lv5) will be more than enough to achieve this. Concentrate on grinding meowth to 40k coins so you have a few spare coins (you should be able to achieve this in 4-7 days) and then concentrate on getting easy S-Ranks.

Try to get early ex stages like absol or Luke. Those are pretty easy to catch. Dont waste your hearts on the 3 beasts/birds you can get them later. Inform yourself if the current event mons are worth spending coins on and only go for the really good ones since events are repeated often enough so you can temporarily miss out on some.

And last but not least practice the ex stages before wasting coins on them. practice with different megas and see for yourself which helps you the most
