Talk about the recently released Super Mystery Dungeon.
Cry like a bitch over the feels, rage at enemies who caused you to fail, ask for rescues.
Also regarding Super:
Please remember to PUT SPOILERS IN SPOILER TAGS! Not only are some people not as fast as you, but Eurobros don't get the game for a few more months.

That was my plan, good to see it's a good one. Thanks senpai

>beat salamence after three revive seeds
that was horseshit
how the fuck were you supposed to beat him without a truant wand? I was like level 14.
>>24697042
I beat him by spamming slumber wands and continually alliance attacking him while he slept.
>>24697042
by getting gud like everyone else. You can't brute force this shit, Salamence is level 50, you're 14.
>>24697042
By thinking. Salamence was the games way of teaching you to be prepared for anything. Keep good items on you at all times.
>>24697051
I just got through that mission. I'm still confused as to why they would have him join you afterward. Doesn't that just eliminate any challenge the main game would possibly have?

What's a good partner for froakie?
What did he mean by this?
>>24697079
RNG, Look for a Rainbow Emera called Awakening. Its a temporary emera that builds up a meter, or rather, has a timer on it that fills up, when it fills up, the emera breaks. You become immune to frontal attacks effectively, mega'd or not.

This isn't the first time my partner's gone ham on Bosses either, he almost single-handedly swept the Poliwraths after I hit two with a Truant Wand. Goddamn.
Just met my partner, what a spazz. Anyone else doing Turtwig with Mudkip as a partner. I was pretty happy that I got my favorites with the quiz.
>>24696909
Is there anywhere to grind in this game? Remember in the former games you could revist old dungeons, but I haven't found that option here yet. Only lv.12 and at Poliwrath Riv. Got to 5F before a Heliolisk razor winded me to death from the far corner of a room. So is there any way to visit former dungeons to grind or am I stuck having to grind here?

>>24697328
"Furfags", what else
Yvetal fight seems impossible for me. Espurr always dies before even attacking because it never decides to attack while the BHM do. Petrifying, putting to sleep, confusing, surrounding... well they are all dead before the time I even get to Yvetal's space when I use a surround wand.
Level 30 Feraligart and level 27 Torterra. I have no things that you put the emeras into because I already used up all of them trying to fight him for the past 8 hours. Yes, I've been stuck trying to fight this one boss fight for that long. Ampharos "never" even gets to reach anything in time, same with Celebi.
Also the BHM keep using long range moves, Yvetal keeps using Oblivion Wing, not even using 2 team attack combinations of razor leaf + crunch + flash cannon can even kill a BHM or anything. Also just one attack of anything puts me below 50% health, so Torterra and I always get 2KO anyways.
Also I can't go back to the beginning of Road to Primeval Forest, so I can't even save the game. There is no point in being rescured or sending out SOS mail if I will just die to the boss, and pointless to go back to previous save; I would have lost 3 levels.
>>24697328

>haven't even gotten Victini, one of the mons in Serene Village
this is agony
>>24697411
I got Victini very early at around chapter 5-7. I just went to the cafe in serene village everyday.
>>24697400
It's a great plot twist, but the story's rushing itself so much by that point that the impact's kind of ruined a little. The game wasted too much time in Serene Village (half the game, to be precise), and by the time you reach Lively Town and actually get involved with the real story, it has to rush itself in order to be all wrapped up by the end.
It's like if you took the first third of Explorers, from the start of the game to the end of the expedition, and then you took the rest of the story and tried to do it all in half the time. The story's still okay, but it's hard to really give a shit about the characters because of the weird speed. I stopped caring about Serene Village by the time I left because I was stuck there for so long, and I've spent so little time in Lively Town that I barely feel like I've connected with the other guildmates.
I mean, the plot twists are still pulled off really fucking well, that's something I will defend to the death, but the way the start dragged on and the way the story's rushing now just makes it feel off. The story had so much potential to be more. It could have been better than Explorers, but instead it just feels on par with Rescue Team, maybe a little better.
A few questions before I pick it up:
>Will mega evolutions only be limited to gen 1 and 3 starters?
>Do Pokemon have ALL their abilities or just 1? If so, can you get alternate or hidden abilities?
>How's the post-game look? Is it as expansive as Sky?
>>24697401

>>24697415
Going there everyday, I'm 27hrs in and I have 284 species.
>>24697418
>megas
Everyone can use the ability if they find the enema, only mons that can mega can use it to be mega, non mega mons become "Awakened" and it's basically the same.
And yes mons besides gen1+3 can become mega, you can be mega Glalie, Gardevoir, whatever.
>abilities
no HA, different abilities are available but you need a Lucha Token to change it.
>post game
It's okay, Epilogue is really short but getting all the mons will take a VERY long time.
>>24697418
>the other starters can mega evolve too, they get a flashy aura around them instead and gain the same stat boosts
>can get alternate but not hidden
>i beat the game with only 150 pokemon collected. there are 720 total
>>24697423
> VERY long time.
if you recruit a pokemon every 6 minutes it would take you 72 hours to recruit them all.
not counting duplicates like the rotom forms and the unowns.
>>24697423
Alright, thanks for the info.
>>24697426
>but not hidden
FUCK.
BTW, don't eat a sitrus berry when you warp digivolved during the story, and you get that extra boost. It won't have any effect
>>24697400
I just groaned when muwahahahahah happened.
Overall I kinda agree with >>24697416's comment that the story wastes too much time meandering about and the end feels too rushed, they hint damn near nothing about the main story prior to Chapter 10.
Post your save data! If you're at the epilogue or close to it, take a minute to cover the boss boxes.your name too if you're scared someone will dox you with just your first name

establishing the world and giving characters depth is not a waste of time
that was explorers biggest problem, all of the characters besides dusknoir sucked massive dick
>>24697446
yeah, I was explaining how long it takes
>>24697453
I agree about Explorers, but too bad for Super nearly no one focused on in the first half remains relevant, at least unless they suddenly do in the eleventh hour.
>>24697136
As far as I can tell there is no true grinding until post story. When completing missions/connections you can opt to stay in the dungeon however, and finish the rest of the floors instead of escaping early.
>>24697453
Establishing the world and giving characters depth is exactly what Explorers did. That was the whole point of the first third of the game - the start of the game to the expedition was all about easing you into the world, making you care about its inhabitants and helping you get to know your guildmates. That's why the later parts of the game were so potent.
It's also what Super did, at least for the first six chapters or so. That's when the game should have decided "hey, maybe we should actually get going with this plot, huh?" rather than keeping you stuck in Tutorial Hell. There's nothing like the Dimensional Scream or such to add some relevant foreshadowing to the story, nor are there explanations of things like the Time Gears to provide some solid, important information.
Like, Explorers' first part lasted from Chapter 1 to Chapter 9, but it all tied into the later parts, in little and big ways. You learn about the Dimensional Scream, you learn about Time Gears, and it turns out that Fogbound Lake has a Time Gear in it. This all becomes relevant later in the game. Super's first eleven chapters have next to no hints about the overall plot, like >>24697445 said.
>>24697470
Not true. deposit all your items, go into a story dungeon, get to the second to last floor, die, rinse and repeat
For some reason, I'm easily impressed by this. Holy hell, I never expected this.
>>24697499
It's things like that that keep making me wonder why they reduced the teamsize from four to three. The game can clearly handle groups of four, so...
>>24697416
You're right! They spent too much time in the game in that village. They should of found a way to wrap up that part of the story in like five chapters instead of spendingTHIRTEENchapters just doing tutorial missions and dicking around.
I'm not sure what's going on with 3ds pokemon games lately. Maybe gamefreak and chunsoft was spending so much time creating new assets that they had no time to spend on proper storytelling/post games. I think for D/L/S chunsoft was able to reuse a lot of assets from rescue team so they was able to spend a longer time with the story.
I was so excited for this game because I heard it was better than sky but it turned out to be the opposite. I hate the new exp system and how reliant on RNG it is now. Accuracy is terrible now because of the speed stat.
Squirtle is so bad in this game now. My eternal partner ;_;
>>24697423
I thought the reason the main campaign was so short was because the post game would be kind of long to make up for the kissing content. That's a shame.
>>24697400
Yeah.
Fuck, man. That almost crushed me.
This motherfucker, I was expecting a fight.

>>24697508
>framerate chugging to a crawl duringthe Mega voids fight with the sandstorm and shit
>>24697524
There's nothing wrong with the EXP system. The only real issue is it's a bit too sparse earlier on.
Im starting to do expeditions on my own and summer vacation happens but I feel Im so underleveled. This is the first mystery dungeon where Im afraid of mobs just one shotting me
>>24697524
I dunno, I don't think it's a matter of mixed priorities or anything like that. It may simply be that the scenario writers aren't actually all that great. Like, Gates' story was good, but it didn't have the same nuances that Explorers had, and it lacked a hell of a lot of subtlety. Rescue Team was fine, but also really basic. Explorers is the only one that truly gets outright praised for its story, and it's entirely justified.
I mean, there's precedent for this in the main series, too. People laud BW1 for managing to have a bit more emphasis on its story and characters without making either game or plot drag on or be annoying, but then BW2 manages to be okay but not quite as good, and then XY's story is absolute trash yet it still forces you to watch all the cutscenes and tries to get you to care about the characters.
It really seems like the two Pokemon games that get so much story praise (BW1 and Explorers) were like lightning in a bottle, and who knows if we'll ever get another bolt from the blue, if you will. Maybe part of the blame can be placed on the scenario writers, or maybe some of the blame could be pinned on localization, but who knows?
is a joy looplet worth buying or should I just save my money?
>>24697524
Accuracy is bad because of speed? what?
>>24697478
>Establishing the world and giving characters depth is exactly what Explorers did
no, it didnt. it forced you with a bunch of half assed characters that the game introduces for 3 seconds before making them irrelevant. none of them ever do anything. you never fight along side them, they never say or do anything interesting, they are just a little entourage that follows you around outside of dungeons and occasionally comment on plot related happenings in smd you may move on but you still learn alot about them and actually interact with them for an ample amount of time before.
tell me dude, who the fuck in the guild did you even enjoy or remember? loudred?
>There's nothing like the Dimensional Scream or such to add some relevant foreshadowing
so you aint played the game, huh? theres literal cutscenes (dimensional scream) sprinkling and building up to whats happening in the world, theres even clues about the villains plans and shit that happen such asnuzleaf constantly leaving and checking up on you. you also seem to forget thatnuzleaf is playing you for a fool
>the start of the game to the expedition was all about easing you into the world, making you care about its inhabitants and helping you get to know your guildmates. That's why the later parts of the game were so potent.
literally the same thing happens in SMD but the writing isnt complete garbage and the characters are actually characters. are you telling me that you didnt feel sad whenespurr first said she turned sides?
>It's also what Super did, at least for the first six chapters or so.
>Like, Explorers' first part lasted from Chapter 1 to Chapter 9
you dont make no sense dude
i dont understand your obsession with the time gears either. they are literally just a plot device, the same as pokemon being turned to stone, and eventuallylegendariesbeing targeted
>>24697524
im really tired of hearing you bitch about this every fucking thread.
>>24697541
I liked the story in Gates a lot, but I can agree with the idea that it told a lot more than showed. But I felt it made up for it with stronger characterization than the main story in Explorers.
However Super doesn't really feel like it succeeds at either. I need to finish the last few chapters though.
>>24697550
There is a regular Speed stat now. Your accuracy is tied to it. If your speed is lower than the enemies, expect moves to miss a lot.
I'm only at the dungeon where you have to rescue Budew and I can't make it further than four or five floors. Almost all enemy attacks do more than mine. Are you expected to go back and grind regularly?
>>24697556
That's actually kinda cool
>>24697561
It's more of an annoyance than anything.
>>24697555
Actually, I'm the anon that was complaining about the gameplay the last couple threads. Right now I've calmed down and I'm debating the stories instead.
>>24697556
I dunno, for me the early parts of the demo fell flat enough that I couldn't get invested. Combined with how badly the gameplay had been butchered, I never even bought a full copy of the game, and I ended up watching a playthrough instead. I think it did well, but the characterization didn't really make up for the telling-not-showing for me. That might be because I wasn't the one playing, though - if I had been the one in charge, maybe I'd have been connecting with them a little better.
>>24697559
No, you just literally have to git gud and stop playing it like Explorers and use some damn items.
>>24697570
Like, Tangela is able to 2HKO either me or my partner. I'd have to whack every single enemy with a wand. Bringing many items feels like a waste because I'm going to lose them all anyway.
so is there stuff hidden in walls?
>>24697551
I enjoyed Loudred, but I also really like Sunflora, Diglet and Dugtrio, as well as Bidoof, and Croagunk's dry snark. Not to mention Wigglytuff and Chatot themselves, who are really fun and memorable characters. The flattest members are Chimecho and Corphish, and yet I still remember them since they stand out from the rest of the goofy squad.
Nuzleaf's constant coming-and-going is a nice touch, but that's seriously all there is. The chat about Revelation Mountain is nice, but frankly it should have come much earlier. Climbing it after Chapter 8 or whatever is fine, but they should have introduced it way earlier.
As forEspurr, you know what I felt? Apathetic. The issue with the beginning half of the game is both story-related and game-related - I was sick and tired of staying in Serene Village by Chapter 6, and the fact that I was still there in Chapter 11, combined with the restrictions still placed on the gameplay (haven't joined the society, no rank points, no continents, etc), I wasn't invested any more. I got invested at the start of the game, and I really enjoyed the characters! But then they overstayed their welcome. I got tired of being stuck in Tutorial Hell. I got bored. I got uninvested in the characters, and the rest of the game being rushed means I'm not very invested in the Expedition Society either. I like these characters, but I don't care about them. I did care about some of them, but the game lost me later on down the line.
If anything, it serves as a good warning for me to make sure not to pace my own stories (stories, not fanfics) this way.
>>24697577
And just for reference, when I say "overstayed their welcome", what I mean is that I knew these characters weren't going to be sticking around, because I knew that sooner or later, the partner and I were going to join the Expedition Society and the guild members would be the ones I'd truly get invested in. Except I turned out to be wrong, because the game wasted excess time in the Village (making me stop caring about it) and then it hadn't spent enough time in Lively Town before having the big plot twists.
Since they were always seemingly going to do this whole two-towns deal, with you starting in Serene Village and then going on to Lively Town, they should have made the jump much earlier. As it stands, one set of characters I don't care much about anymore, and the other set of characters I haven't had enough time to care about yet.
Was anyone else expecting Ampharos tomega evolve during a fight and be the introduction to the mechanic?
Frankly I'm annoyed he wasn't

Probably going to pick this up in a few days. Thinking of going as my nigga Bulbasaur, trying to decide between Mudkip or Froakie as a partner, maybe something else.
Are there any specific starters that are bad or good?
>>24697586
It would of been really fun if the main plot of the game involved going to multiple continents.
I hate how expensive the lapras tickets are when this game barely gives you any poke to collect. I'm atvoidlandsand I barely have over 2000 poke in the bank.
Now that I think about it a feature they should of had in this game was gummis/iq points. It would of made the difficulty of the game seem less bad.
>>24697633
most starters are passable, just don't pick Chikorita
Chespin and Tepig are especially good

Because I'm an overthinking chucklefuck who likes writing as a hobby, I've honestly been mulling over what the game could have done had it been paced better. The Serene Village segment could have ended earlier and you could have gotten to Lively Town sooner... you could have started to investigate the incidents of legendaries turning to stone across the entire world rather than just one continent, and then it could turn into a desperate race to try and save even a few of the legendaries from getting petrified. Then Entei could get stoned at Showdown Mountain, and the rest of the game could play out the way it is already.
Heck, it could have even been like
>Serene Village, Pancham and Shelmet are still assholes when you leave
>Lively Town, do expedition work for a while
>Serene Village, haunted school, make amends with Pancham and Shelmet
>Lively Town, stoning starts happening
>Investigate a dungeon on the first continent
>Investigate some dungeons on the second continent
>Third, fourth, etc etc
>Each time you fail to save the legendary, but you do get a little more and more sightings or info about what might be going on
And then, like I said, Entei gets the warning, he gets stoned,Krookodile gets suspicious and you head up to Revelation Mountain, and the SHOCKING TWEEST with Nuzleaf and Yveltal happens. I just don't get why they left so much of the content, with all the continents and everything, so underused in regards to the storyline.
>>24697642
What makes Chikorita bad? Aside from the fact that I'm pretty sure it's never been good in any game anyways.
Kind of a shame, I like the cute design.
>Igglybuff... that name reminds me of my junior. He's a fine guildmaster now

>level 50 salamence
am I being rused
How do you make multi-hit moves not be a guaranteed one-hit KO against you?
>>24697697
Chikorita has an okay starting moveset, even if Ancient Power is one of the worst egg moves. But it learns literally nothing useful when leveling up outside of reflect/light screen
no reason to ever pick a pokemon with such a garbage moveset when other grass starters like chespin start with pin missile/rollout or treecko which starts with dragon breath

I saw this game for £15 in a local game shop. ASIDE from the lack of content, is it actually bad? How does the story compare?
>>24697909
The small variety of pokemon is annoying but the story, characters, graphics and music are pretty amazing.
Also building your own paradise is one hell of an amazing feature. It has its shortcomings but its not as bad as people want it to see
>>24697943
I looked into a bit more. It seems that the new features that have been added might make the game less monotonous, which was the biggest problem the first 2 PMDs had.
I'll get it later today while I wait for SPMD to come out in Europa.
>>24697909
Not played Super yet but,I think Gates's story was quite a bit better than Explorers, minus Sky's episodes.
>>24697650
I'm using rollout/pin missile/vine whip/drain punch atm. Might switch pin missile for bulk up later on. Seed bomb doesn't seem worth it to me? Mainly because vine whip got that range on it

The MC annoys me. His dialogue is so inconsistent. He always talks in parenthesis and you can't tell if he's thinking it or saying it. Sometimes people react directly to what he says and other times he's being silent.
I feel like in the older games there was an obvious distinction between his thoughts and his words
>>24698335
Expedition Society had your back the moment Ampharos stumbled into Serene Village and has remained brosFor now at Chapter 17.
Wigglytuff Guild was tricked by Team Skull the moment they stepped and and blamed you for everything wrong and wouldn't listen to a word you said until it was nearly too late.
Expedition Society all the way.Didn't play Gates, so Paradise might've been cool.

There definitely was in Rescue Team and Explorers, I want to say there was in Gates but I'm not certain.

I'm just gonna start over because I shouldn't be struggling this bad. Maybe Froakie and Cyndaquil don't work well together or something.
Am I the only one who thinks the story was pretty gud up until the end, where the ending plot twist just fucks up absolutely everything? I felt like the boss battle was underwhelming, and the ending by the tree was just the nail in the coffin. I did my best to cry, but I just couldn't.
Man, why does this game feel so unsatisfying to play a lot of the time.
Like, I'm having fun, but it's also a big pain to play, and I love the shit out of roguelikes in general. Half my games folder is filled with the stuff and I've even dipped my feet into the oldest of old ones just because I enjoy seeing how far I can get before I get my ass kicked, and I find all of it fun, but this... Super just doesn't feel very fun. Am I going insane? It isn't just me, is it? I'm not even bitching about the stuff that other people are, like the Looplets or the Connection Orb and stuff, it's not that I dislike it. It's just that even though I don't dislike it, it still doesn't feel fun.

>>24699082
I thought it was just okay for the most part, but you're right in that the ending plot twists really cause the whole thing to go off the rails.
I know I'm not the only one who feels like things likeDark Matterdon't belong in a Pokemon game, and the explanation of howMew and the human fought with Dark Matter in the past, only for the human to be sent forward and for Mew to reincarnate as the partnerjust feel like a tired sort of retread of Explorers. It's actually pretty disappointing.
Like, the plot twists they had at Revelation Mountain (which I don't consider a spoiler to say because REVELATION Mountain? Really?) were really good, even though I thought the rest of the story was just okay. But then the last plot twist fucks it all up and kind of ruins the rest of it. That's sort of how I feel about the story as a whole, some poor decisions about how to have it happen ruin the rest of the story in the end. It's okay, but not awesome like the other games.
Post game question hereI just found Mew but all I really want is to get my partner back ASAP. Is it way far into the epilogue? I can't keep cheesing these hard dungeons forever. It's no fun without them ;_;
>>24699113

>>24699099
Yeah, that actually sums up my thoughts pretty well. I'm having a hard time figuring out how to put how I feel because my mind is still kind of working on it, but you saying that actually helps, hah.
It's funny, I was grumpy and kind of irritated with that one guy from before who kept talking about how the game wasn't good and how it was way more about the roguelike parts compared to the other games, but now that I'm thinking about it, the anon may well have been right.
>>24699110
>the plot twists they had at Revelation Mountain were really good
Agreed, took me a whole lot of time to believe it, even though the characters already accepted it ages ago.
And I've just realized how badly a bad ending can ruin a whole story. I've seen bad starts, or some shitty chapters halfway, but never have I seen an ending fuck up this badly, and take the rest of the story down with it.
>>24699109

>show the player after the MC and partner leaves Espurr reporting to Nuzleaf
>then you reach the bottom of the ruins
>Espurr "reveals" they were a mole
>mere moments later "lol jk I was a double agent"
>only real twist was the super suspicious Beheeyem WASN'T tricking you
It just felt like, what was the point of it? Get a rise out of the player? It just felt really odd to me.
>>24699137
what the fuck.
>>24699110Dark Matter is an outside-context villain.I suppose they aren't masters at that.
>>24699131
For me the issue is that the game started too slow (restricting you so much gameplay-wise in Serene Village for half the game got me frustrated and made me stop caring about the story, which wasn't a good thing, obviously), and then the rest of the game was rushed in order to wrap the plot up in what little time it had left. The plot twists were still really fucking awesome, but then the last plot twist and the backstory and explanation for the villain completely mangled the endgame.
It's a damn shame, because I think that the game's story very well could have beat Explorers' if it wasn't so whack. And I love Explorers, but the idea of a story that could surpass it is exciting, so it's really disappointing that Super failed to pull it off.

About what doesn't belong,Dark Matter just felt like a weak retread of the Bittercold to me. Bittercold at least felt like some sort of force of nature, and had a bit more thought behind its design, Dark Matter is like they went the most generic path they could for the same utmost basic premise, then turned up the edge and over-the-topness. I preferred Munna's death cult to Nuzleaf's band of literally mind controlled 'mons, too.
At least the fight was a tiny bit better.
>>24699156
I didn't mind the start so much, because it seemed to start to get really good after a while. But then the ending...

Maybe it was supposed to be a darkest hour deal? Like, "oh no,even sweet little Espurr has betrayed us, we're completely alone and we can't rely on anyone anymore!". Except the darkest hour was more like a darkest couple minutes or so.
>>24699151It's not just outside-context, it's out-of-place. I have the same issue with the Bittercold: it's a generic "gerrrr I'm evil incarnate" villain with a backstory that does nothing to really justify its existence. Both its visual design and its presence in the story are completely unfitting for a Pokemon game, where the "monsters" should always be other Pokemon in my opinion. Yveltal would have made a better and more fitting final boss, especially considering the whole Tree of Life deal.
>Low on HP, don't want to use an oran berry because of how quickly you recover HP when walking around

>>24699233
Jesus, you're not even halfway through the game and you're already at 35 hours? I like to take my time in PMD too, but damn, you're on another level entirely.
I'm at about 25 hours or so, and I'm on Chapter 17.
>tfw no cinccino gf
>>24699233
21 hours
chapter 21
>>24699233
chapter 9, 9 hours
>>24699275
Hit send mail at the left pelliper.
>>24699210
What sucks is that Chespin always looks really cool in illustrations and fanart but looks like garbage in game.
Also Chespin's evolutions are horribly designed holy shit.
>>24699370
PMD Rampardos is the reason why it's in my top ten Pokemon. Anyone who loves a Cinccino has to be an alright guy.
>>24699407
this 100%
fanart looks cool. I hate chespin otherwise.
i went with froakie and fennekin. sort of regret fennekin.
>>24699396
Thank you.
>>24699257
I don't really have much, but I hope this is a good enough gift for you.
>>24699407
Still looks cute ingame IMO, Quilladin looks pretty goofy honestly but I think Chesnaught is redeemable, though his color palette could've been better.
I liked the little guy since I saw him and it only hit me recently that I have an odd fondness for little armored mammals which I am currently unable to trace further back than Sandshrew back in gen 1. Also,my Chespin in X was shiny - no resets
>>24699416
Fennekin fits the partner's hyperactive personality best imo.
Fennekin also proves very helpful by being able to snipe enemies from a few tiles away while I bash the up close with close range attacks and items.
>>24699450
what's your partner combo?
>>24699229
>Finally get passed them
>Suddenly,Enteias expected
>Pretty much every attack is missing him
>And then MC and partner evolve
And Mawile showing up after that? Fuck me that's satisfying.
Ending spoilers:I wonder if the protagonist knew they wouldn't be able to return to their own world before he and Mew set their plan into action? Also,If they were going to need him back in the future, why send him back to the human world in the meantime instead of having Mew send both of their spirits into the future to be reincarnated?
>>24699472
Mudkip/Fennekin
>>24699547Dude has a life in his world, too, anon.
Well I might not have cried at the ending like I expected but I sure as fuck didwhenever you finally get your partner back. Holy fuck just nothing was fun or had a point without them
>>24699437
Luckily you can keep Chespin in its starter form without too many consequences in super.
>>24699615
He's gonna be weaker tho
just beat the game
Best fucking PMD story yet. They've outdone themselves. Now for some post game schenanigans.
>>24699672
Evolution doesn't really impact stats this time.
>>24699681
Oh i didn't know. You'd give up on being a fighting type though.
>>24699562
That doesn't really justify much to me, though. Different anon here, just to be fair to the other guy, but let me put it this way:if you fought in a war with Dark Matter, then had to get sent home, wouldn't you just be worried sick until you got sent back?
I mean, I know Mew was the one who gave us amnesia, but that was from the start of the game, not from the backstory. Did he also remove our memories when he sent us back so we wouldn't worry? Why would that even be an issue? It seems like the world's are mostly separate, so time-traveling to the future wouldn't mean you'd "lose" any of the life you had in the human world. It's never implied that when you spend a day in the Pokemon world, a day passes in the human world as well.
I wish they would just stop with the Pokemon world/human world disconnect, because there's too many issues that it always brings up. The Explorers human seemed to be living in the bad future, so for them, this sort of thing was never an issue.
>>24699615
Yeah, I have been. I might evolve my Squirtle partner but I'm keeping myself Chespin.
>>24699689
Not a huge deal considering drain punch already hits pretty hard and I plan to boost it at some point
>>24699715Well, for all the MC knows at the time, jeez, job done. At least I assume, they weren't very clear on it.
>>24699715
I don't mind the human/pokemon world disconnect since it allows for a more fanciful world and furthermore, Chunsoft can do what they want with the games and not have to care about the plots in the main games and vice verca
>>24699681
seriously? why?
>>24699258
I don't get why everyone thinks Explorers is a 10/10 flawless masterpiece. Maybe it's just nostalgia.
>>24699761
Because most people want to use the cuter forms but feel pressured into evolving for the better stats
>Feraligatr is favorite final form starter
>standing pose looks like garbage
>running pose is 10/10 looks like he's chasing prey
what do? Currently I'm Croconaw with a Bayleef partner, Bayleef IS evolving to Meganium the second she hits 32.
>>24699761
not him but it's probably so you can stay in your starter form without regret that you'd be stronger fully evolved.or because you absorbed the Harmony Scarves, fuck if I know.
>>24699765
The story and gameplay in Super is much better. I'd even say Gate's story's better than Explorers. Explorers didn't really have good characters aside from Sky's episodes.
>>24699765
Explorers is 8/10, RT and Super are 7/10, Gates is 6/10
>>24699767
>>24699781
that's pretty lame to be honest
Can you take your scarf off it looks like shit on torchic
>>24699796
In the postgame, yeah.
Anyone wanna tell how i take screencaps on this? I dont have a phone i can use for this stuff
>>24699036
Wide slash is a pretty great tm
>>24699761
Evolution never impacted stats much to begin with. At least in sky, it gave a measly +5 to your stats
Anyone else experienced big framrate drops in the "clam craggy area" dungeon in chapter 18? It must be because of all the pokemon walking with me at the same time.
>>24699808
Hit the home button, Miiverse, select the screen you want to cap and then hit save to screenshot album. Log on to Miiverse on computer and grab it from the album
>>24699823
And that's how i'm supposed to post these QR codes i see around? What do they do?
>>24699835
If you die it's the much easier way to get rescued, we can scan those via Pelliper island instead of inputting your 30+ code. Then they rescue you and they give you a QR code back.
>>24699845
Beats taking a pic, taking the sd card out, and putting it up
>>24699732
But that's really my point: there weren't clear on something that probably should have been explained, or at the very least, explained better. Then again, the whole reveal ofDM and all the gobbldygook about Mew and the human, the stuff going on in the past, and etc etcare really, really lame. It kind of ruins things.
>>24699741
I think I worded myself wrong, so let me clarify: I think keeping the human world and Pokemon world separate is a good thing. But the only one to ever actually do that was Explorers, since the human didn't come from the human world. If they did, then they would have been sent back at the end of the game, they wouldn't have been erased from time.
Pulling a human-turned-Pokemon protagonist from a vague "human world" raises all sorts of issues, and these same issues keep popping up in Rescue, Gates and now Super. Did they have a life back home? Since they're in the Pokemon world now, are they missing their life there, or does time work differently? If they spend a whole year in Pokemon land, does a year pass in the human world, or what? Why did they agree to be sent there in the first place?
The reason I mentioned Explorers is because that's the only game where the "human world" is never ever mentioned. The human in Explorers was always from the bad future timeline, even after they got turned into a Pokemon, so they were a part of the Pokemon world. You never ask "isn't anyone missing them back in humanland" because humanland is never relevant.
Also I'll shut up and stop rambling now because I'm probably beating a deader horse.
How do I talk to my partners in dungeon? Not that it does much, but most times they pose and other times they say something?
>>24699865
Gates actually tackles it well with the ending and epilogue. The MC goes back home at the end and the partner wants to see them again, but actually considers the idea that they still have friends and family in their world they'd want to see too. So they try to go against the laws of the universe and basically get the MC a free travel pass so they can go back and forth as they please to see their friends on both sides.
Really, that's one of my favorite parts about Gates. Your partner in it really seems to care for you and thinks about what you want.
>>24699865
It annoyed the shit out of me in Rescue Team where 'you' chose to stay in the pokemon world in spite of possibly having people back home. The whole amnesia thing didn't even affect the story at all in any way as far as I know.
>>24699881
Gates's epilogue was short but sweet. It firmly cemented the Gates partner as being my favourite.
>>24697611
They ARE assholes. I just got to *that* point of the story where they all show their true personality. I wish Entei could of stayed a stone.
>>24699881
Yeah, to be fair, Gates does address one of the big concerns, but to me Gates' issue was more that the postgame just wasn't long enough.
Like, imagine this: the partner wants the player back, but they don't know how. They spend a lot of time doing normal missions, while also doing research into finding out about the human world and how the whole deal works. Sometimes you'll have a postplot-important dungeon that you'll go to, and the partner gets the opporunities to show how they've developed since the start of the game. Then, after a lot of effort and a decently lengthy postgame, they finally figure out what they need to do, and then the rest of it plays out like you said.
Gates' postgame is a good idea, it just wasn't fleshed out enough. It had a lot of lost potential, which is a shame.
>>24696909
why is espurr best character in spmd
>>24699865
I remember in rescue team the protagonist saying before he was going to return back to the human world that he "wanted to stay there for a little longer". It sounded like that implied that the MC wouldn't stay there FOREVER but that he was given more time to stay in that world.
>>24699925
She's a great partner desu, she's my fav
>>24699765
probably because main series suck ass.
>>24699925
Charge Beam and Psybeam. Saved my ass a few times.
>>24699905
Also would have been since if there was an arc toresurrect Hydreigonin the post game.
so, how hard is it to evolve you mains in this one, dare I ask?
So apparently the Jirachithat wants to fight you out of nowhereis the same one thatBidoof finds in Sky.
The thing is, I can't say when Super takes place in relation to other games.Whiscash uses to be in a pond. Rampardos talks about a shop. Corphish looks for guildmaster. But then there's Quagsire, who's back to being crime-punishing guy. Also, Hydreigon. And Tyranitar from ACT.
And many others.
>>24699967
You can't until lateeeee, as per usual.Unless you count these nifty scarves your partner gives you early.
>>24699968
The game wants you to turn your brain off and just smile and nod at all the cameos. They're the only way Super has any connections to the other games, so the idea that all the games are tied together into one world and universe now is pretty hard to believe. You could take all the cameos out and nothing of value would be lost.
It sucks.
>Vibrava used Earth Power!
At least the fucking Nidoqueens in Sky were optional
>>24699983
I am fairly sureLuminous Spring is mentioned.
Also, the odds of continents being so similar but not the same is too low.
....or you're just baiting.
>>24699988
>heliolisk used razor wind
Ok /vp/, here's the important question: Would youstay, or leave?
NUZLEAF IS THE CULPRIT
I was on ch.4 when some anon posted that, im on ch.5 now, thanks I dont know what it means though
>>24699976
what do the scarves do? and how late? after beating it, or is it at the very end? god I fucking hate the evolution system. i dont know why it would be so hard for them to just let me look like the legendary-scalping badass that I become
>>24699925
I hate the design, but I fucking love the character. Kind of a don't give many fucks kind of character, only facts matter. Fits with my autism.
>>24699423
>Not really that much
>Literally the first "real" reviver seed I've got in this game (Yeah, I haven't bought shit with my gold bars).
Thanks for being modest I guess.
>>24699931
Does she become an actual member of the team?
>that 1 star Axew mission
What in the fuck?
Am I actually supposed to be able to beat this?
>>24701423
Dude, that mission is super easy. Only second floor, and if you have more than two blast seeds you win.
How many floors are in the submerged cave
