But there is also the fact it's way easier to make conversions in metric system.
For example it takes you to add only some zeroes to convert from milligrams to grams or to kilograms. Ounces to lbs and tons are much more difficult to do mentally.

That would save costs in the long term.

>but people also overdose on medicine due to conversion fuckups
Then blame the people who did the conversions. You say that like converting metric to imperial is something that only a PHD in physics can do.

>It's also much easier to do conversions and general math with
Good, I'm happy for you, then. We'll just keep doing it our way, since it's easier to do that then it is to instate a pointless federal program designed to resocialize a country that's barely socialized to begin with.

>and you need it to travel abroad in a lot of cases.
Then learn it. I know metric as well as I know imperial, and I've traveled abroad. However, someone who doesn't want to travel abroad, and wants to do business in imperial with other people who prefer imperial, should use imperial.
>>
>>24688312

>Then blame the people who did the conversions. You say that like converting metric to imperial is something that only a PHD in physics can do.
No shit, but having to convert is a pain in the ass that can literally kill people if done poorly. Wouldn't it be better to just eliminate that step altogether to remove the chances for error?

>since it's easier to do that then it is to instate a pointless federal program designed to resocialize a country that's barely socialized to begin with
It's not pointless if it has notable benefits. Also, what do you mean by "socialised"?

Is there any reason to actually keep it? Aside from "it's too much effort", which is clearly up for debate since a lot of other countries seemed to do it without much issue. Is there any actual benefit to keeping Imperial?

The "white" category is misleading because it includes Arabs, North Africans, Caucasians, Gypsies, etc.

The relative white share of the population began declining in the mid-1940s after it reached a peak of just under 90%. At the time, only Canada was whiter in the Americas. But that has fallen a long way since, and the white population has been falling in absolute terms (total deaths outnumbering total births) since 2013. Anyone who thinks the white "majority" can last another 20 years at this rate is nuts.

We went from duodecimal to decimal back to duodecimal because time being duodecimal has relevance to the world being a sphere and taking 365 days to go around the sun. Time isn't comparable to measurements of length or weight because it's influenced by the rotation of the earth and time zones, which are based on degrees, which total 360 in a full rotation because there's 365.25 days in a year.

Regardless of whether or not it's superior it's too massive an undertaking to happen and the transitional period would be largely unfeasible with everyone doing extensive conversion calculations from 10 to 12,whenever they encounter the base 12 format.

Aside from that, the only REAL advantage of the base 12 format is that its third, sixth, half, and quarter value are all whole numbers unlike 10's 2.5, 3.3333- and 1.6667- atrocities.

It has more to do with language than anything else.

In Canada, some documents will be imperial dates and some will be metric dates, because despite us official using the metric system colloquially we say for instance "January first", rather than "the first of January. And that's because when we write the date in long form instead of dd/mm/yyyy, we write January 1st instead of the 1st of January, 2016.

We write in the same way we speak it, since, honestly, the dd/mm/yyyy format isn't really that important and done for the sake of convenience and brevity, rather than conversion like metric measurements. Days don't fit evenly into months so it's largely irrelevant which one you write first.

I honestly have no idea how the US came to the conclusion of mm/dd/yy vs. dd/mm/yy. Personal guess would be the "ease" of pronunciation. "November Twenty-first, Twenty-fifteen" is arguably easy/quicker to say than "the Twenty-first of November, Twenty-fifteen." That saves two whole syllables. Two! Remember, Americans are the laziest or most efficient, depending on point of view.

It also has to do that when written in words rather than d/m/y, we don't write the 15th of november, 2015

Another one that was fixed recently is Glare, it was Bagliore, which means Glare from a light source, and they corrected it to Sguardo Feroce (Fierce Look, the correct translation of glare in this case)

Of course, for the sake of convenience and not having to change infrastructure...

Also, degrees were a Babylonian estimate. Since it's NOT the exact amount of days the earth rotates around the sun, it's pretty useless to keep as is. Except for convenience of not having to change everything to switch :^)

Pretty sure multiple countries have switched systems and are doing just fine bar linguistic residue.
See: Denmark.

Unless you've memorized the exact height of every first gen pokemon, you're just looking for reasons to whine.

1C=1K, it's the same scale. They're both metric.

Who actually says out loud "it's the 3rd of may", over "it's may 3rd"?

The calender ia the only one with SOME logic behind it, because it's written how you say it. Imperial is just because of its been in place too long to make change easy now.

Everyone in the UK. But it's a dumb argument anyway, we write all sorts of stuff differently to how we say it. The only true date format is yyyy-mm-dd.
