I'm slightly torn.
On one hand mega evolutions are stupid and overpowered already, but on the other I think it is important that there are some counter-strategies to Knock Off, and Sticky Hold isn't prominent enough on its own.
Dark types weren't short on good moves, Sucker Punch, Crunch and the occasional Pursuit even had a fairly large distribution to boot. A better question would be what exactly warranted this decision?

I was really disappointed with Sticky Hold's interaction with Megas. I was going to try out Sticky Hold Gastrodon as a switch-in for Bisharp, but then found out that Knock Off still gets the boost even if the item isn't knocked off, which is bullshit.
