ITT: We come up for details for a well-made Hard Mode for a hypothetical upcoming game. Don't just make it grindier, either.

>Gym Leaders, Team Admins and Elite 4 members all have full teams. Other trainers generally have an additional pokemon added to their teams. The level curve is slightly steepened to account for the extra EXP gain.
>The AI of Gym Leaders, Team Admins, Ace Trainers, Veterans, and other important NPC's are upgraded to what you would expect from the E4/Champion.
>There is no EXP Share anywhere to be found until postgame.
>Similarly, all handout pokemon are delayed until postgame. They're given a substantial level increase to compensate.
>Battle Mode is locked to Set, meaning you no longer get a free switch when you get a KO

Guaranteed shit tier IVs for wild pokemon, better ones for trainer pokemon. To compensate post game there is a patch with IVs even better than friend safari. I want this mostly to make eugenics a bit easier.

Battles in gyms work similar to the way they do in the battle masion. Everyone's mons are taken down to the same level, held items will be regenerated after the battle, and your opponents all use held items. Trainers always have 3 to four pokemon, and the leaders use 5 to 6.

Cheating AI. Gym Leaders always have a coverage move to fuck you and can choose form a pool of several coverage moves. The 4th move on their pokemon isn't set in stone and is chosen mid-battle according to what you're weak against.

AI's pokemon also get illegal moves, illegal natures (no downside, like Cynthia's Garchomp), and secondary effects for foes happen twice as often ,like all of them have Super-Serene Grace. Frozen AI pokemon can thaw, yours never do, ever. Also your pokemon always stay asleep for the full 5 turns. Basically, the RNG hates your guts and will almost never cut you a break. Your pokemon rarely score Critical Hits, and your foes crit twice as often, before factoring in shit like Scope Lens, which Gym Leaders and shit will use abundantly. If you grind, Gym Leaders grind too, and will ALWAYS be 3-6 levels higher than you. Their moves update with the level-ups too.

You just make the game as bullshit as possible, like those ultra-hard Final Fantasy Tactics rom-hacks.

I'd like to add a thing.

After the first gym leader, you can choose what battle format (Single's Doubles, Triples, Rotation, Inverse (Doubles, Triples, Rotation)) you want by talking to the Gym Guide. He also stops after you beat the first gym to let you choose.

The game gets altered for which option you choose. With doubles, all trainers will have a minimum of 2 pokemon or 1 very high leveled pokemon and some wild battles will have double battles. With triples and rotations, all trainers will have a minimum of 3 pokemon or 1-2 very high leveled pokemon, and increased chances of horde battles in wild pokemon. You can also catch pokemon in hourdes without fainiting the rest of them but when caught, the other pokemon will run awau.

Like you know how Jolly Nature increases Speed but decreases SpA. An illegal nature would be Jolly that Increases both Speed and SpA. Cynthia's Garchomp had a nature like that, where it increased both her speed and attack.
