If talking about a challenge going in blind then
Dragon, Fairy, Water and Steel.
Good typing and coverage if they are given strong pokemon. It could be a challenge if you aren't overleveled and don't allow swapping before the next pokemon enters.

Sinnoh had unusual types (except for Psychic) for elite 4. I hope next time we'll get something like that aswell

They got easier in Platinum because they all focused on one type bar Drapion which used to be a Bug type. Grass and Water violate Bertha, Flint gets destroyed by Earthquake, and Lucian dies to strong physical attacks bar Bronzong which gets decimated by either Fire or Ground moves. For Aaron, just kill everything with A Flying type and use Earthquake for Drapion. The only challenge with Cynthia is Garchomp and even that dies to Ice Beam.

That's a big one unless you're just that delusional.
Their monotypes outperform their mixed gimmick DP teams in every way, stats wise, coverage wise and strategy wise.
The coverage alone makes them infinitely better, all use regional dex teams that can deal with regional dex threats.
You cannot seriously use the x2 and x4 weakness argument where most those things can take one hit, especially Cynthia's team. And this alone happens with decently EVsed mons, think of the average ingame teams now.
But sure Girafarig, Dustox, Beautifly and Lopunny are quality team members, right?
At best you can complain on Milotic with no Recover, that still stupid Yanmega set and the lack of SD and Bullet Pnch on Scizor and maybe Bertha not leading with Hippowdon but he rest is fine as it is for those they were allowed to pick from the Sinnoh dex.

I mean OPs pic has Bug and Psychic, two of the most easy to kill types, whereas Kalos has
-the ultimate defensive type: Steel
-the highest average TBS anti-elemental-type: Dragon (a bit gimped via Fairy now but still)
-the fattest type with great coverage: Water
-the type with the most resistances and serious offense: Fire
The only thing lacking in this group is Fairy and Ghost. Anything else would make it worse.

I have a bias towards BW Elite 4, but they lack potential for all having the same levels. If you could choose who to battle/in any order plus having them escalate in levels. That would be an ideal Elite 4.

Nah, GF got it right in BW/BW/XY, it makes no sense for one E4 member to be stronger than another, they're each meant to be god tier, only being surpassed by the Champion.
Pokemon battling is like sports, the higher up the ladder you go, the less of a gap, skill, technique and mentally wise, there is between teams and players. Top tier teams are usually just about as good as one another, the only difference is that on a particular day, one of them will perform better and beat the other, and then the next time they play the team which lost will perform better and win. The same is true for Elite 4, all of them are capable of losing to and beating the other, it just comes down to who performs better on that particular day.
In terms of the Champion, just think of them as being like Guardiola's Barca, a freak even better then the best teams. They're capable of being beaten the Elite 4, just like Guardiola's Barca were beaten by the likes of Chelsea and Madrid, but if both the Champion and Elite 4 member are both performing at their best, the Champion will still win because they're best is better than the Elite 4's best.
