So Diamond was my first game. Played the SHIT out of it as a kid, think I even managed to catch them all at some point.
Theeeeen I went to play it today. God, it's so. fucking. SLOWWWWWWW. I don't remember it being like this. I thought nostalgia was supposed to kick in, where the fuck is it? Oh well, is the game still good at least? I don't think I'm getting anywhere soon for a while with this speed.

Platinum is faster, it still is a bit slow compared to BW and XY, but it's the best way to play through Sinnoh.

I've never understood what people mean by saying it's slow. The story, the running speed, or something else?

The battling and text speed mostly. If you compare it to BW the move happens instantly after you press the button but on D/P theres like a second delay before any move or turn or message. It gets seriously annoying and can make really easy battles feel like they last forever.
In fact I recently played both and B2 with battle scene on still plays faster than Pearl without battle scene

The entire game engine runs incredibly slow. Run speed, text speed, HP bar, Load times, Surf speed, save speed, move animations all are much slower compared to any other gen.
Gen 1 & 2 may be buggier, but gen 4 has certainly aged the worst.

In battle I'm guessing, but to notice you'd have to have ADD. It's a negligible problem, even now. Out of all the gens, gen 4 has certainly aged the best.
