Dewott is a cool mid-stage, but when it evolved into Samurott for the first time, it was Awesome.
Dewott looks like fixed Oshawott, which is a bit ugly in my opinion, but Samurott is my fave in the line.

I'd like to see Dewott pull that off with it's non-threatening cry and it's puny Scalchops. And the worst part of it is, 2 Oshawotts together can basically do the same thing Dewott does as it's nothing but a slightly bigger Oshawott with 2 Scalchops. Dewott is heavily reliant on dual-welding to make a difference whereas Samurott usually needs a single seamitar swipe to put the hurt on it's opponents. Did I forget to mention that it also has a intimidation factor going for it?
Samurott is objectively more interesting, badass, and significantly powerful than it's pre evo. The only redeeming thing about Dewott's existence is that it balances the other two by the sharing the samurai motif from Samurott and the otter characteristics from Oshawott.

It continues the samurai theme of its pre-evolutions.
The only thing that's somewhat off is that it's a quadruped that can stand on its hind legs when it's holding its swords instead of a full biped like the previous two stages.

They're supposted to be Pen shells. And the main reason Samurott doesn't fight with Scallop shells is because Pen shells are the closest seashells that can resemble actual shell blades. As Razor Shell japanese is called "Shell Blade". You have the previous 2 who use ordinary-seashells like blades and final form who fights with literal shell blades. A natural progressional change that is only failed to be noticed by whinybabies like you all because the actual design doesn't meet your expectations.

People would look past its differences from the pre evos and would look at the positives of the design. Whatever man. Samurott really isn't as that bad final evo as you think it is. Its rather interesting evo that enhances the samurai shell armor theme and weaponry and doesn't go for the "just gets bigger route". To me I think its a misunderstood badass and suffers from having a poorly animated sprite in the generation it was introduced.

Sorry, I'm failing to see where the Gen V starters compare. Heck, only gen 3 had good enough starters to actually rival gen 1, and even then I would wish I could replace Swampert with Blastoise or Greninja for the box art because Swampert wouldn't sell Blue version at all.
