Are they ever going to bring back customizing your character's clothes in a Pokemon game?
They already stated that trainer customization is a feature that will be unique to the Kalos region.
It's a lazy as fuck cop out but it's what we've got.

Customization is one of my favorite features of XY. It makes everyone in multiplayer feel like a different trainer that could somehow be in the same world instead of the same "canon" design bullshit

Nah, it isn't. Unova's still the worst selling region (barring Kalos because including only 2 games actually would be unfair) if you want to go by where the games took place. If Gen V wanted better sales figures they probably should have released some remakes. Not that they should have, waiting until out of that gen and for 3D was the right move.
Gen VI is pretty much the most successful damage control ever enacted by a company. XY pandered to the Gen I and II crowd because of the focus on Kanto and Johto mon shilling, and ORAS pandered to the Gen III crowd because Hoenn lol, and Z will pander to the Gen I-IV crowd because of their appreciation of third versions. Obviously it doesn't appeal to the Gen V crowd, because apart from maybe ~100 people on /vp/ (being generous), it has no crowd.
