I'm fine with ORAS but XY was terrible. The thing that threw me off the most was the lackluster story and characters. The awkward 3D character models that come with both ORAS and XY don't help with making me absorbed into the game either.

This. Gen 7, if it follows the odd-number gen trend (especially gen 5), can make or break the series for me. I need minimum 130 new pokemon and lines that follow the regional archetypes. I dont want to play another game using the same bird, dragon, psychic, etc

I realize that this is bait. But in case anyone seriously holds this opinion, can you explain it to me? How was XY any worse than Diamond and Pearl? I feel like the people who think Gen 6 is the worst were really young when Gen 4 first came out, and probably had DPP as their first games so they treat it with the same nostalgia that a lot of people (and I'm guilty of this myself) have for Gen 1.

DP are the only games in gen 4 that XY should be compared to, they'r ethe first paired versions of their generation. DP were agonizingly slow (and Platinum only marginally fixed that), both from a story perspective and a mechanics one. The people who bitch and moan about the loading time for a battle in XY must have completely skipped DPP.

Not every game needs a complex plot. Mario is literally rescue the princess from a dino-turtle and it works fine. The point of pokemon is to collect and battle monsters. There are plenty of games that focus soley on story, if you want good plots go play those.

Whenever I feel down about Pokemon, I just think "At least it's not Gen V". Puts everything in perspective, and makes me feel great again.
It is just my personal opinion, but I loved X/Y. Really didn't enjoy Gens 4 and 5, I still loved Pokemon during those times - I don't think anything will ever make me "stop" loving Pokemon, this franchise is very dear to my heart - but I was not impressed with Sinnoh or Unova the way I was with Kalos. X/Y weren't "perfect" by any stretch, nor is Gen 6 my new favorite gen, but I had tons of fun, and it's been years since I was really that amused playing Pokemon. I felt very young again.

Eh, I don't think you can really compare the two honestly. Pokemon is just too broad of a spectrum of creatures, with some based on actual animals, others based on mythical creatures/yokai, objects, concepts and all sorts of other things. They're all supposed to be unique, original monsters. Yokai watch is specifically based on traditional yokai lore with some original creatures tossed in, but still fitting with the theme of Japanese folklore. They have a very specific subset of creatures and themes to work with and a unique style that differentiates it from pokemon. If they branched out more and the style was different then people would bitch that it ripped off pokemon. Different strokes kinda thing here.
Personally, I like the Yokai watch creatures. Some of them are ugly, yeah, but so are a good chunk of pokemon in my opinion. Some are cute, and others are just cool looking, but I enjoy the style. It's a different enough game and setting that I don't see why people are pitting them against each other and trying to make one out to be better than the other. They're similar, but not THAT much. Jibanyan and Pikachu can easily coexist if the ridiculous fanboys stop trying to pit them against each other.
