So I was going to just start a thread for my beloved Tyrantrum line but
A. It would probably be slow as fuck.
B. It didn't seem fair to the other wonderful prehistoric Mons of the past.
So let's have a fossil Pokemon threadThough some Tyrantrum/Tyrunt love and art would be much appreciated.

wish they'd have made Tyrunt and Amaura 3-stage fossils.
-we've had a duo of dinosaur fossils before
-except for the single-stage mega evolving aerodactyl,
-all fossils are 2-stage and come in pairs
-tyrantrum looks more imposing than the pseudo-legends, especially with the whole royal-theme, which would make a mid-stage completely appropriate
as for Aurorus, its current look would be slightly altered into the mid-stage, and a grander milotic-level of beautiful 3rd stage added.
it wouldnt fix its Shit/Shit aka practically-quad-weak-to-everything-type, but itd be nice

I've never raised a Rampardos because when I first played gen 4 I could not for the life of me find his goddamned fossil, not to mention the excavation minigame was extremely aggravating.

Never, because that would make Genesect the Predator. Since he's a pre-historic Predator that basically killed off all the past Pokemon, and that's before he got metal armor and a cannon.

Too bad all of rampardos' other stats are less than optimal and it's weak to every commonly used attacking type, I hope that it gets a mega that's pretty good. Same thing goes for almost every other fossil, there are so many that desperately need stat boosts or better abilities.
Is Genesect considered a Fossil Pokemon or not?
I'm glad we're finally starting to see more Dinosaur Fossils. I'd really like to see a Stegasaurus though. Maybe we can get like old fossil versions of existing Pokemon. Like a fossil praying mantis, like an ancient Scyther or such.
I think it could be really neat, especially if the whole game was about prehistoric Pokemon coming back, or literally like a Jurassic Park Region.

It's not necessarily a fossil pokemon, since you don't revive it from a fossil, but it is a prehistoric pokemon (or at least a modified one). It's kind of like mamoswine.

I wouldn't mind a rampardos mega that just put all of its boosts into speed and physical defense, since mach and bullet punch really hurt it and there's only like one special priority move.

This would have been sick. 3-stage fossils is completely unexplored territory.
My favorite fossil is Armaldo. He's got the right combination of goofy and scary as far as monsters go.

Armaldo is the one you never see being talked about lol. Cradily is well-known for it's quirky design and it has a reputation as a stall-mon. Armaldo is a generic monstery-mon and a slow sweeper, which is the one combination that makes a mon useless in battle.

I just realized there is absolutely no Aerodactyl love. He really is quite the mystery since he's such an out of place fossilmon being the only third in a usually pair of Pokemon.
Plus he got a megathat I'm not a big fan of honestly. "Add spikes to it, alright good enough"

I actually love Bastiodon design wise, but there's pretty much no reason to use it. Shit in competitive and just not good in game where everything is faster and he'll be constantly taking hits with no recover other than stuffing his mouth with potions.
I wish Dinkywink and Dunkywunkr from Sage were actually official. Dunkleosteus needs to have a Pokemon designed after it.
Actually, what sort of prehistoric creatures would you like to see as Fossil Pokemon? I'd like it if there were more Cenozoic and Paleozoic themed Pokemon

I think Anon is talking more about appearance. Yanmega resembles the gigantic dragonfly that lived in prehistoric times and Torterra closely resembles a Ankylosaurus. Though I'm not sure what correlation to Prehistoric times Tangrowth symbolizes

I was going for the "evolves with ancientpower=prehistoric shit", though i'm thinking about going for Tropius, who actually looks like a prehistoric creature.
I could stretch it too much and probably add Scolipede as a stand-in for Arthropleura, aka the giant centipede from the paleozoic.

Rock/Fire Dimetrodon based on the idea that they used their sales to regulate body temperature.

Pretty much looks like a regular dimetrodon. The sail on its back could have a pattern resembling the sun, kind of like Volcarona's wings
>2nd stage
Gets bigger, sail gets bigger, and it has two smaller sails made of flames along either side of the big sail. Possibly rears up on its hind legs to look like a pseudo-spinosaurus
