Depends on what you start with and catch really. Some can be hard or easy. Whitney for example, if you have nothing but female pokemon she's a pushover, but she's a huge annoyance with male pokemon.
Or say, Clair if you don't have an ice/dragon Pokemon, she can be a bit of a bitch at times. Blue/Green is probably the hardest though just considering his team comp. isn't one type.

Whitney's a piece of shit, but I actually think Clair is worse, just because there's an enormous level trough right in front of her. Unless you want to grind against level 25 Graveler for six years you'll go in against most of her team at least 5 levels below her.

For some reason never had problems outside with gym leaders except for some RNG bullshit and evasive/para tactics Clair can pull sometimes and outstalling Winona's set ups whenever I do shitmon runs.
I think I have lost like 3 times to the Striaton trio as soon as the first ROMs of BW were shared, I have played in Japanese and finished it easily but damn, fuck Lillipup's Work Up. When you sum up relatively good strats on gym side and an overall shitty regional dex and shitty starters you realize you'll find some problems. Also Lenora's Retaliate still against shitmons often got easy kills but Striaton kept stomping on me in Japanese BW.
Also Roxanne's immortal Nosepass is always a pain because I hate 2/3 Hoenn staters and don't feel to using Mudkip in every run, Hoenn didn't really have that good mon selection in Gen 3, just like Unova BW.

I a normal type move, and not a very good one. If you mean the one that keeps you from attacking for 5 turns, you get a free attack on the 5th turn since you are faster than Onix. Also, you can use Potions and shit while you're being binded. Does no one else use Potions?
If you mean "Bide", Brock's TM Move, just use Growl or Leer or whatever while he stands there and don't hit him until it's over. It's not like he'll outspeed you and use Bide before you attack. If Onix is outspeeding your pokemon you are full of fail.

I remember as a young boy I couldn't beat Liza & Tate and just gave up on the game. My friend eventually beat them for me.
