1. Get a Mega Evolution
2. Be Mega Venusaur in literally all aspects except being Grass-type only.
3. ???
4. Profit.
they had a chance with giving it a decent hidden ability, but nope, Leaf Guard.
I would say a mega with Thick Fat can make Meganium actually tanky, but it'd just be a Venusaur clone by that point, so until it's time for Johto starter megas, Meganium can't be saved.
>>24601052
What dual typing would help its Mega the most?
>>24601065
Water
>>24600984
>return to gen 2
>nerf everyone else
>new resistances for grass
>Leaf Guard cuts all damage by half
Pick one I guess.
>>24601065
Mono-Grass should be okay to keep Meganium in lore, but Dragon (reptilian features) or Fairy should be okay types if it comes to that.
Flower Veil, for starters.
>>24601090
What kind of strategy/person besides the rare Sticky web would want to lower any of Meganium's stats in the first place, tho
>>24600984
Just give it Huge Power since it's a dinosaur.
HP 80
Atk 82 --> 117 (+35)
Def 100
SAtk 83 --> 117 (+34)
SDef 100 -->
Spe 80 --> 111 (+31)
>>24601125
Too easy and broken.
>>24601108
Flower Veil does more than just protect from stat drops. It also protects from status. No more Toxic, no more Burn. This is something.
>>24601137
Still gets walled by Scizor, Ferro, Skarm, etc. Players would have to use Magnezone as a partner or run HP Fire with some investment.
>>24600984
Mega Meganium
Grass/Ground
Water Absorb
80/105/135/70/130/95
>>24601137
Ah, I see, didn't see that. Guess I haven't been exposed to Flower Veil enough to know that right off the bat.
I guess Meganium doesn't have to bust its ass off switching into Will-O-Wisp or other statuses like Venusaur does, though it equally likes Thick Fat.
>>24601193
Physically attacking Meganium was a thing in Gen 2. It could be a thing again.
>>24601200
Bleh, wrong post, meant to respond to >>24601140
Also assuming that stat spread, Meganium doesn't have THAT much trouble with Ferrothorn and Scizor if it's running mixed with Hidden Power Fire (standard for Grass-types). Skarm is the only thing it has trouble with, but then again so does Mawile.
>4 SpA Meganium Hidden Power Fire vs. 248 HP / 176 SpD Mega Scizor: 168-200 (48.9 - 58.3%) -- 98% chance to 2HKO
>4 SpA Meganium Hidden Power Fire vs. 252 HP / 168 SpD Ferrothorn: 156-184 (44.3 - 52.2%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery
>252 Atk Huge Power Meganium Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Ferrothorn: 160-189 (45.4 - 53.6%) -- 2.3% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
Checks at best.
Solar Power as a HA/Mega ability and Quiver Dance as an egg move.
>>24601230
None of those make sense. Also, Meganium has a horrible special movepool.
>>24601228
>qrong quote
Yeah I got it, no worries.
How much does a +2 Earthquake to Mega Scizor?
Mega with an ability that works like Regenerator but restores the HP of the new Pokémon switched in rather than itself.
>>24601348
>+2 252 Atk Huge Power Meganium Earthquake vs. 248 HP / 0+ Def Mega Scizor: 275-324 (80.1 - 94.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
Pretty sizeable damage with a Naive/Jolly nature, and almost a guarunteed OHKO with sneaky pebbles.
Give it Geomancy.
I mean why not?
>>24601402
Looks like we got ourselves a good mon then. Flower Veil fucking when?
>>24601404
>signature move of a legendary pokemon
Are you really asking that
Mega Evolution with New Hidden Ability: Solar Barrier
Automatically places Light Screen and Reflect when entering battle.
>>24601438
That's fucking awesome
>>24601438
>>24601463
>opponent used defog!
>opponent then used strong flying type move!
it's shit
>>24601438
That might actually fix it. Or break it. I can't tell. Depends on how people innovate it. Expect to see a lot of setup sweepers.
>Mega Evolve
>Go for Safeguard
>Switch to setup sweeper #1
>>24601087
Please, not Dragon. That would make it too similar to Mega Sceptile, give it a 4x weakness to Ice and really, Dragon is such a shitty STAB, hitting only other Dragon-types super-effectively.
>>24601476
Give examples of things that aren't weak to Stealth Rock, use Defog, and aren't competitive dog shit at using Flying-type attacks besides Skarmory.
>>24600984
Change Leaf Guard so it prevents status 50% of the time without Sun. Give it Stun Spore, Stealth Rocks, Dazzling Gleam, and Wish
Mega Meganium
Grass/Fairy
Regenerator or Magic Guard
Hp: 80
Attack:72
Defense:140
Sp.Attack: 113
Sp.Defense:140
Speed:80
>>24601514
>aren't weak to SR
why would that matter when you have roost
even a simple m-pidgeot defeats it
>>24601620
If you have to risk 25-50% of your health and waste a move slot for Defog (because hurr hurr hurr 90% of all Mega Pidgeot totally use Defog), it's shit.
>>24601673
>implying 25% is a big deal when you resist everything the opponent throws at you
why do you think zapdos was OU for so long you dipshit. every defogger out there is weak to SR
>>24601065
Would make close to zero sense, flavor wise, but Electric typing would help it from getting murdered by flying attacks.
>>24601090
This is good. Would literally make it top tier, if the Mega were to add more bulk, and maybe a good second type.
Grass/Flying w aerillate. Gets some kickass wings and nothing else.
HP: 80
Atk: 82 -> 132 (+50)
Def: 100 -> 80 (-20)
Spa: 83 -> 133 (+50)
Spd: 100 -> 80 (-20)
Spe: 80 -> 120 (+40)
Nature power subs in for hyper voice which it unfortunately doesn't learn, otherwise coverage options are wide physically and it has swords dance as well.
You can't really make it a better defensive grass type than mega venusaur so why even bother.
>>24602167
>kickass wings
What is Tropius?
>>24601072
A weaker Ludicolo?
>>24602191
those aren't kickass they're just leaves.
I said wings, not leaves.
Grass/fairy Mega
Ability: Does not require charge up or recharge time
Moves: Give it geomancy
